looking into getting a polisher

mix of the two im going to be helping for sure but under his very watchfull eye lol, im defently going to get the souveran, the supernatural and a few others at least in sample pots i like having a very diverse wax collection because you dont always need an expensive wax if your doing it every few weeks lol

Very good idea on the wax samples. Like I said earlier learning to wet sand and buff paint will help you immensely in your paint polishing skills when you detail for money.

Good for you... when I painted my first car I was so luck in that what ended up being one of my hometown's future top painters happened by the paint booth I rented and taught me how to mix my paint, set up my gun and blow paint onto the car...

Hands-on training from someone with years of experience flattens out the learning curve like nobody's business...

Be sure to take lots of before and after pictures of the process if you can. While this was written and targeted at detailers restoring any type of paint the same idea applies to a project like this...

The power in the after shots is created in the before shots

o yeah mixing paint is a blast its like chemistry but with color lol. i know how to mix paint, sealer, primer, clear as well as all the diffrent types of body fillers and adheasives for diffrent type of applications. Like for my widebody its attatached with 3m 8115 panel bond and then molded in with evercoat fibertech which is a kevlar reinforced body filler and then for the filling inside the gaps we used urathane so it has some flex but not too much, and then just some marine foam under the side skirts so it has some ridigity to it as well. ill start a forum with it in a little bit theres also a lot of custom projects like my hood and headlights. Its been a long but very good learning project to put it shortly

Very cool, I have helped on a wide body RX7, Mustang and 240X at my buddies hop over the years. All this knowledge will go along way for you.

yeah it has its kinda coming on from like 3 sources. the owner of the shop whos my friend thats helping with all this and such, my really good childhood friend who i actualy re met when he started working at his shop lol weird way of reuniting, so hes been helping me out and educating me on so many levels and other person thats working for him has been trying to get me into some more things as well. so its kinda a well rounded time. its a small shop but the work he does it amazing. He is so highly recommended in the Volkswagen world that volkswagen corporate recommends cars to him. Like a couple who drove from Colorado to IL after hitting a elk on their way to new york to get they're euro van fixed. Its been a great time and thanks for all the input guys

Also whos widebody im on rx7club so i may know who it is. Also what kit was it?

I am in the same position, considering the Flex and need advise on polish for moderately abused paint on a black Benz. Was considering Poorboys SSR line. Opinions?

viviorunitia88,

Listen to Dana (ASPHALT ROCKET); he has put me on the right track many times. He knows what he's talking about! I have many polishes, including WG twins, Meggs twins, and several Menz polishes (all of which I have experimented extensively with). I can honestly tell you that I reach for m105/m205 95% of the time. I cut my teeth on 105/205 and IMO they are very easy to use, even when just starting out. As Dana has stated you can vary the cut w/ your pad choice and just stop working the polish when you achieve the desired correction...Very simple!

PS: Definitely try the Souveran paste (you'll love it)!
Be carefull with the SN, it is very hard to apply and it
sweats for days:props:
Good luck and keep us updated!

I'm glad this thread made a turn for the good. :xyxthumbs:
Yeah, but it went from getting a polisher to painting. I just found a great hamburger joint, anyone interested.
