Loving this some days!

regardless of the initial reaction you got, I guess you impressed him

I remember when you posted that you were going full time. good to hear you're doing so well. Keep the momentum rolling

Yeah less than a year since I went full time (June will be a year) and so far 2012 has been great!

I've been keeping myself booked out at least a week in advance for about a month now. Right now I'm currently booked out almost 2 weeks. Which is awesome!

Of course being mobile I'm subject to rain and stuff which throws a wrench in sometimes. But I'm doing well and making my bills which is all that I'm worried about at this point.

I also was contacted by my bank the other day who are going to let me advertise in the local branch for free for a month. So, starting next month I'll have a table with my brochures, business cards, pictures, etc.

So here's to 2012 being my year!

that's solid exposure. Especially since people at the bank, typically have money :xyxthumbs:

Well seems as though the saying too good to be true is right with this one...

After only having done a few vehicles from him I decided to sever the business relationship.

He was more of a pain to deal with than originally expected. He first gave me a hard time cause I wasn't polishing the vehicles at the stated price...which was $50 off my regular just cleaning fee for an Escalade. And he kept saying well we have a lot of cars...we have a lot of cars...blah blah blah. It came to the point where I felt like I was working for a dealership.

That and he never returns phone calls till the last minute. So when I would call to confirm an appointment for the next day he wouldn't return my call until 10pm or early the next morning. Which would leave me not knowing what I was doing.

I was constantly waiting for him to either drop off a vehicle or pick one up at his own location! Yesterday I had to wait 45 minutes and he never showed up, so I said that's it and left.

Basically, it just turned out that I wasn't making any money on the deal (very little money at least). Between having to drive 30-40 minutes each way (in traffic!), gas, my expenses, having to fight with his garage mechanics where he wanted me to do the vehicles, it just was more a PITA than anything.

So, I cut my losses and am moving on. Sucks to loose that much business but at the same time it was more a headache than anything. And when your not making much money on the deal it makes it even harder to deal with all the BS. I can find customers closer to me that are willing to pay my prices with out all the BS.

Sorry for the rant...just had to get it off my chest!

Thats too bad but I'm glad you made the right decision without letting the situation drag on any longer.

Aww sorry to hear that man. But like you said, sometimes it's better to cut your losses than deal with someone who can just cause you to hate doing the work. Your doing this because you enjoy it, no need to have customers that take that away from you. Hope it turns around for you!

Too bad things didn't work out, but it sounds like you were getting the short end of the stick as far as respect goes. Better to cut your losses and move on, but kind of sounds like you aren't loosing that much.

You see what a little discount does for you!!! I started my business that way (15% discount) and today I have over 7 thousand customers.

Thats an amazing hook up :dblthumb2: Congrats on the biz takin off man :props:

Unfortunately this one didn't work out...review the above comment I made.

Not a problem though. I can find new customers.

And I rarely offer discounts due to the type of people that want discounted service will always want discounted service. I wait until I have a good customer then I will throw in a freebie for them here and there to show my respect. I don't agree with underselling myself.

As I tell a lot of people who question me about pricing. I know what my time is worth and the quality of work that I do. As with most things in life you get what you pay for. You want to cheap out and hire a detailer that is charging half of what I do? No problem I can almost guarantee your going to get about half the detail too.

This guy one of those people...saying "my last detailer use to buff it out and do everything you do, plus shampoo carpets, all for less than you charge me just to clean it". And I just said well there is a reason he's no longer in business.

Either way I cut my losses and will move forward and continue to work hard and offer my real clients who treat me with respect my services.

Congratulations again. Most of us(like you) bend over backwards to please our customers but there are always the ones that want you to bend over forwards, as did this one.Congratulations again, but this time for doing your best then making the right decision for yourself and your business and walking away with your pride.
