M205 Replacing Everything in My Cabinet!

Man, I don't know about you guys, but I've noticed this season that M205 is slowly but surely replacing everything in my cabinet!! I've other various cleaners and polishes and combo products like most of us do, but here of late, when I need to clean or prep a vehicle for something, I just go straight to the 205 and a white LC pad. One product and it's done with a flawless surface!

I only have two questions that I think aren't even a really big concern…

-Should something be done after the 205; i.e. are there oils or anything on the surface that should be removed with a cleaner of some type?

-Are there any negative benefits from using M205 over and over? I do my whole vehicle once a year followed up with spot polishing as needed as is required on a daily driver sometimes. Just curious if one day I'm gonna blow through the clear coat or something.
 
I used M205 for the first time last night. WOW It was so easy to use and removed. I used it with a LC CCS orange pad. and the finish was so nice. I did use a IPA, then one layer of BFWD.

I agree M205 will be replacing alot of stuff. I could go rest of days just using M205 and BFWD.
 
- Yes, after 205 it's a good idea to do an IPA wipedown to remove any leftovers before you apply your favorite sealant or wax. Make shure your MF towel is top quality, you don't want any new swrils now...

I've been using M205 as a "do-it-all" for a long time, it's great! If i need extra cut I can use a micro fiber optimum pad, to regular polishing a white foam pad and to a final polishing i take a black pad. It has basicaly replaced all other AIO I've tried.

But sometimes i need an extra pass of Menzerna SF4500 on black cars..
 
I agree. M205 is a great product. Sometimes I follow it with P085RD on my black Mustang. I like to follow that with a wipe down with Klean Strip Prep All. It will remove any left over oils/contaminants before applying a sealant.
Here is a 50/50 of M205/before:

So basically M205 is pad dependant? More agressive pad, more cut, etc..? I've always wanted to try M205, I've only ever used AIO's like XMT 360 or Poorboys w/ Sealant

Black or White pads?
Flat or CCS?
 
Thanks. I use an LC white polishing pad or a black finishing pad depending on how bad the swirls are. I'm using a Flex 3401.
 
My Menzerna 106 never gets used anymore. Only once or twice have I noticed a difference from 205 to 85rd. Work it well and it can finish down very well indeed. That's why I buy 105 & 205 by the gallon!

What was the difference that you noticed between 85RD and M205?
 
On hard clears could you use 205 on an orange pad and be done? Or would you have to go back over it with a white or black pad..

I don't know that you would use a light cutting pad with 205. It's a polish and not a compound. If I can't do what I need with 205 on a polishing pad, I move up to a more aggressive product like 105.

I've seen a few people that have used an orange pad+205 with good results. No need to use 105 if you don't necessarily need to.
 
I love the combo of 105/205 there really all you would ever need? But both come with a learning curve one more than the other but with patients practice and the right pad combination they can do anything! Taking 205 down the line to black and even blue/red pads will finish as good as anything else on the market hands down rotary or pc!!

It finishes down just a bit nicer on some paints. Having said that, I tried Menz FG500 tonight for a one step and went back to M205 with a green B and S pad. Glorious results!

Just a couple of days ago Richy had me all excited about the results he was getting using DG 501. Which would you rate higher, and what a the differences?
I'm still soaking up board wisdom, sorry if this is a ridiculous question.

205 is a polish
501 is a polish and sealant
I am not sure which has more cut.
They are both outstanding products
 
Two totally different products. 205 leaves absolutely no protection behind since it is a polish. I would guess that it has more cut than DG 501, which is primarily a sealant with strong cleaners and some cut and it will protect the vehicle for 4-6 months.
