Ok just thought that I would chime in here and give you my 2 cents worth of info.
I have used a wide variety of software and found that I like Final Cut Pro X the best. Adobe Premiere and After Effects are great programs but if you are a novice to video editing they can be a little bit over whelming.
All the videos that I produce for PBMG are created in Final Cut Pro, Motion and Adobe After Effects (I use a Mac for about 95% off the work that I do). The templates that people are talking about are going to need Adobe After Effects, and yes you will need CS4 or later in order to edit them. If all that you have is movie maker, you can still create a decent video just you will be limited to what you can do, i.e. text/visual/graphic/transitions effects.
Best thing that I would tell you is find a buddy with a Mac and you can create a high quality video using iMovie (or better yet Final Cut) with nice effects. The reason why I am suggesting this is due to that fact that they are simple programs to understand for the novice and have a lot of power to produce stunning videos.
If you have any questions feel free to hit me up. Hope this helps.
