Just wanted to throw in my 2 cents here...Last year I was promoted at my job to supervisor of 10 people. They gave me a $10k raise to take the position.
After almost two years of dealing with the BS that comes with the job I recently stepped down. Of course this is in a corporation, so I had to deal with the office politics and a laundry list of other issues.
In the end I decided that it just wasn't worth the headaches, the extra hours worked, and the lack of respect I received. Being a supervisor I basically took it from both sides. I had my team giving me crap every day, plus upper management giving me crap.
It started effecting my health and my overall happiness at work. So, I decided that I needed to take a step back and just do my regular job and focus more on my detailing on the side, since this is my real passion.
From my personal experience supervising or managing people is a very tough job depending on the group of people you have. It can also at the same time be very rewarding. You need to look at the pros and cons and see which one out weighs the other.
