Maybe the LC orange pad should be marketed as a polishing pad?

We have samples out of a new line for testing that I guarantee has a ton of cut, but leaves a nice finish.....

Hey Mark.....I think it's your terrible technique not the pad. :D :buffing:

JK Buddy!

Is there something with more cut than a LC orange, but slightly less than a yellow?

I can see where your coming from Mark but I've done some great things with an orange pad and SIP. I worked on a car with severe water spot etchings and I was able to remove all except one. The one that was left was the worst and I made it unnoticeable unless using my swirl finder at the right angle. I can say that with the amount of cut the orange pad offers it can make for slow work at times

I've never used M101 so I can't really comment. Do you think that a change in technique would help? I know Jim is joking but sometimes little changes make a world of difference.

Honestly, not to toot my own horn, but I think my technique is just fine. I'm always open to any constructive criticism. :dblthumb2:

Also, I'm not talking about making 5 passes. I'm sure an orange pad would cut more if I did several passes. Time is money! :)

Although I'm not detailing anymore I can only recall one time where I had to go above an orange pad (to yellow) to get the job done to my satisfaction. Like most here my satisfaction level was head & shoulders above the customers. Most of the time I did have the time to make multiple passes wherever needed so certainly that had something to do with it. At that time I used Menzerna products almost exclusively so that may have had something to do with it also. A few exceptions were with Poorboy's SSR polishes where only a white pad was needed to "make the cut". There were no microfiber pads and specialty polishes when I was doing this for a living, I understand they are quite amazing.

Maybe it's not fair to dump on the orange pad but the time involved in using it to its full potential.

I agree with you, Mark. I also have been disappointed with the orange pad's cutting ability. I'm probably going to go the microfiber route next---waiting for Optimum and possibly LC.
