Meg UC dusts too fast ...

Holy crap I never even seen M105 dust that much. There has got to be something wrong with your technique or you are not getting your pads clean and they are full of old polish.

how did I finally clean my pad ...

I just washed the pad before and it looked like this after it dried

also take a look at zoom in for shredded places the pad lost in polishing process

then after I was done with car roof that completed my car polishing I spray "Holy Cow" green bio degreaser and soaked it for a 5 min and washed it and result was way different :props:
it looks like almost never been used

don't pay attention to colors - it's white balance (WB) on my camera at diff light condition while the color has to be the same

Those first 2 pictures shows a pad still full of polish.

thanks for so prompt reply
I think you are right about old polish leftover - see my next post with pics where I figure out how to clean my pad

however, when pad was new I got dust as well - I didn't take pics that time - just posted here about it.
Yes, may be my technique isn't good ether
for the trunk I used 6 zones - 3 wide and 2 H (along car)
for roof 6 zones as well - 2 wide 3 H
for doors 3 zones - 2 above trip and 1 wide below trip

any comments?

is 6" pad too large for my car?

Pls. take a look at this pic

It looks like that less then 5" was used - isn't it?
Is it my technique or it's normal that compound concentrates in center no matter what you do?

Initially I used cross to apply UC to pad then I started applying as close to outer circle thinking that polish will be pushed to center anyway.

I don't start DA rotating right after UC was applied, but light several touching paint and slight spread and only after I turn DA on and with fast horizontal and following vertical passed spread UC to whole my target zone and then starting polishing passes - 4 to 6 times as it's recommended on Mike's and other videos.

Some recommended me 7" Meg's soft buf pads that I think is way wider than I need.
I need to buy set of pads and can't make my mind which pads to buy?
I think I need flat pads - looking at LC Hydro pads
just not sure what size to go with 5.5" or 6.5"
6.5" sales in 6 pack to save $
while 5.5" in 3 pack only and I'll need to buy 5" backing plate for those at extra

thanks for your comments

Whoa I think you are adding way too much UC. If you are priming the pad then all you need is a couple pee size dots of UC.

Not to Hijack here, but I had similar issues, except I was halfway through the car and then it started dusting bad, switched pads and it still happened, but didn't happen till halfway after the car was done. Still kind of dumbfounded as to what could have caused it, and when it started dusting.....i was a snowstorm. Again, didn't start till halfway through, switched pads, then still did it. Hopefully it was just car specific and I won't run into the problem again.

When the temp went up in the garage this summer (over 100F), I had more issues with all polishes that I was using except the Optimum.

now I know I wasn't insane and not alone who got this dusting issue

It's strange as you said you changed pad and it was dusting anyway
my pad got hot in center after 1 or 2 20"x20" and I had to clean and wait for a little

What I noticed a couple of times when the humidity was low and temperature was hot this summer, the polish would dry around the side/edges of the pads and dusting would occur. I learned a few things recently in the M105 dusting thread where I wasn't properly following the Kevin Brown method and got polish on side edge of the pad. That may be the cause of my on-off dusting experience with M105 and occasionally with UC.

If the pad is slightly damp, I find that the center of the pad can get steamy as the heat of the polisher motor/gearing is tranferred down the backing plate shaft and "steams" the water in the pad when I am really working an area. I especially see this if I wash the pad and don't allow it to dry fully. If the fresh pad is totally dry, the pad doesn't seem to heat up as much.

Good luck!

Just had a thought, does 105 settle? Meaning do you need to be shaking it up throughout the whole process? I know I shook it will when starting, perhaps this could give reason as to why it started dusting on my half way through? Am I reaching or could this be the case?

Always mix before applying to pad.

Same with all liquid polishes, compounds, waxes and sealants.

All these problems with UC and 105. Are u guys applying enough pressure to the machine. Remember u need about 15 lbs of pressure to work the polish properly. I use pinnacle pad conditioner and just wipe my pads clean with a Terry towl and have very minimal dusting with a da or rotary. Maybe too much product is problem???

Well again, my particular problem didn't start till halfway through the car. Pressure consistent, pads good, pad cleaning after every other pass. The only variable I can figure out is failing to shake the product after starting the process. Plus I took an hour or so break in between.

I'm not sure how to describe the dusting issue I got
however, when I have less product on the pad - the pad started loosing its parts as foam started flying around, with too much product - product would fly around.
Not sure about too much or too little pressure? I tried it to be consistent - applying on top less I applied less and when working on side / doors more pressure.
