Meg's APC+ in an extractor?

Thanks!

What product is considered an enzyme for Pre treating? What about an acid based neutralizer in the solution tank?

So, the second part is just water and vinegar added to the solution tank? Pre treated with APC+.

Well for an enzyme and an acid neutralizer you will probably have to go to a special carpet cleaning store.

Yes i run just the acid in the solution tank and just spray my cleaners onto the carpet.

And yes you are correct with the second part, sry for being confusing im just a horrible typer!

heres a handy pic

My pc with a brush attachment saves ALOT of time use it dry and wet

Also the more fluid you "put through" the fabric the better it will clean. Just dont leave it to wet.

I also would NOT recommend using apc+ in the solution tank as IME it tends to clog up the machine and needs to be run through with CLR or vinegar so just use an acid all the time and the life of your machine will increase and maintenance decrease dramatically.

When i use vinegar in my solution tank i only use it 1:128 i would rather go over the carpet a few times with a light mixture rather than fell the vinegar

Ok, my plan is to Pre spray and scrub with APC+ 4:1, then extract with 1:128 vinegar/hot water. Sound good?

just seen this post about someone using apc+ in his little green machine
Yes he was referencing my post. The LGM has a fill line for your "solution" of choice (it comes with some cleaner stuff). But I filled it to that fill line with APC+. I'd say an ounce of APC+ to maybe close to a gallon of hot water. I say it increases effectiveness of the hot water having the adding cleaning power of APC+. Gary Dean already mentioned he uses it in his extractor as well in this thread. More reason to use it.

Is there any possibility of foaming with using APC? I've seen a few places that people have tried APC in the BLGM (I know the prices are totally different and extractors generally work better but they have the same basic job). The APC in the BLGM seems to not work as well as the recommended cleaner from Bissell due to the foaming.

It depends what brand APC. Some yes, but APC+ isn't supposed to foam, or very little.

So would foaming have any adverse effects in an extractor? the foaming seems rather undesirable from the BLGM

Yes, in an extractor you want to avoid foam. You can suck it up but you have to make sure you add a de-foamer in your recovery tank. I don’t know if you have a mytee but if you open the lid on the recovery tank you can see there is a pvc pipe that goes all the way up to the top. If you suck up too much foam it will rise to the top and get sucked into the vacuum motor which is not good at all.

I have told other detailers to add a de-foamer so their expensive machine can last longer. I saw a guy suck up so much foam that it was coming out of the exhaust of the vacuum. That cannot be any good.

:xyxthumbs: Perfect and like someone also said let the apc soak!

If it is really dirty then add the vinegar to the rinse tank and go over it with apc+ at about 1:64 in the solution tank

But then make sure to neutralize the carpet by going over it again as you would have in the first place with just the vinegar in the solution tank at 1:128

Good Luck!

And remember not ALL stains will come out EVERY TIME so don't beat yourself up if it happens.

But if you do get a pita stain you may want to take a trip down to a local carpet cleaning supply store. I like to use Fiberclean.

This can cause your vacuum motors to freeze up during non use period of time by means of corrosion(rust)

Great timing. My APC+ is to arrive today. Bought it just for this purpose.

Based on Mark58's post of a couple days ago, vinegar is a defoaming agent. Haven't tried that.
Hey MJ -

I think I see a family resemblance. We may be related.

I do this all the time. In fact, we did two interior details yesterday. Just add a few oz's of apc+ to the hot water and your good to go.... Heck we even add a cap full of our air freshner and let em all roll... Never had a problem with foaming and also leaves the area "smelling " and looking fresh.
