1- Can the Megs Microfiber Pads be used with any polish/compound/AIO or are they specially formulated for the Megs products?

2 - Do you need to buy a special backing plate or do they use they same backing plate that comes with the PC 7426?

3 - Do they work better than the regular foam pads?

I'm sure may people have used the pads with different products...but the D300 (compound) works SO well with the Megs MF Cutting pad...and it is very reasonably priced...that tinkering with the product MOST times probably wouldn't be needed.

Any standard 5" BP should work fine. I just bout the "Kit" that came with MF Compound MF Wax, 2 cutting and 2 finishing discs, a detailing apron and a new BP. I really like the BP that megs sells with it, and i like that they actually give you a RUBBER washer rather than the standard nylon one that usually comes with BP's.

IMO compared to say...105 on a foam pad (Using a DA that is) it is better. Why? Well the dust is much less for one. The work time is much longer. It wipes off smooth as butter. And of course you still get great cut.

Now personally, if you're going for a full 3 step process (compound, polish, wax) I like going with 205 with a LC Tangerine Hydro-tech pad for my polishing stage. Now if you want to skip that step and just use the D301 which is a polish/wax in one then you will still get very nice results, but the 205 step to me, especially on DARK paints, really gives the paint that crystal clear look.

the cutting pads are most effective with smat polishes

since they are designed to be used at lower speeds on a DA, you might not be able to break down dat polishes as nicely as with foam

you can use the pc bp but the megs plate has shorter loops so the pads stay cooler. If you want them to last you a long time, then use a megs bp

do they work better? they overcome some of the disadvantages of foam (thickness, provide more working surface area for compound to bite) plus they last longer and you use less of them than comparable foam pads. I would have bought them but they came out about a month after my major order so I used foam and DAT. I no longer need to compound my car so foam is all I'll probably require for maintenance going forward...

for a beginner, there is nothing simpler than that system imo

Has anyone used something like D151 and a cutting pad as a one step or would the pad itself leave marring behind?
 
I don't find the Correction Compound to have as much cut as 105. I've used 105 with the cutting disc and gotten great results.

The Correction Compound is good for a quick 2-step. But if I'm doing a full correction...I'll take 105 all day.
