What are the best offerings in this line? I think its the #80's

Toto seems to use these polishes a lot, can anyone highlight some offerings?

I haven't used any of their polishes, but I'm looking at #83 to give a whirl.

#83 DACP was my ole time favorite. Products like XMT, Einszett, and Menzerna put it to the back shelve however.

Toto suggested 83,84,85. Any other good ones?

XMT is better than 83? Menzerna is too exp to use all the time.
How does OPT compare to Menzerna and Megs?

If you are planning to go inexpensive line - go with Optimum. Works well in a sun, and no dust. Menzerna is a little pricey, but you don't really need the whole line, just SIP and PO106FF; and use them on YOUR vehicles. Menzerna polishes are a must on super hard clear coats (yes, your BMW), but work well on all. Softer clear coats - you can get away with Optimum.

P.S. I'd take Optimum any day over Meguiar's. Same price, but much better performance/bang for the buck.

you mentioned menzerna on hard clearcoats....what for a heavily swirled vdub?

83 doesnt cut it....

The 80's series is awesome. It is cheap and if used properly doesnt dust much and gives amazing results. 85, 83, and 80 are my go to products and havent found anything better.

let me tell you something...meguiar's 80's were good in the 80's...:D j/k
on 21 century cars you might wanna look at 21st century polishes, like XMT series, and Menzerna...

How recently have you used the 80's series? I know I accidentally got a few bottles of stuff that was a few years old and it sucked compared to the fresh 83 and 80 I had. I am just curious, why do you feel they arent a good polish on new cars?

The Meg's 80 series works very well...BUT it has a learning curve...once you learn the polishes they work fine....

Look at Mike Phillips....Jose from Superior Shine...they use them on all High End cars and their work is fantastic...its just learning the system ...as with any polish...

I am a big Menz and 3m fan..but I still use Meg's also...it has its place....

What's your take on Meg's polishes Toto? Give us the run down on them individually since you probably use them more than anyone. I have yet to use them, but depending on your advice I my try them. Thanks!

For more problem areas and deeper surface scratches, the 80 won't cut it, pardon the pun, you'll want to use ScratchX.

Ummm #80 is more aggresive than scratchX

I've used 83 extensively for several years (that's the product I really learned to use the porter-cable with). Since then, I've used 80, 83, 4, 7, 9, and wax 26 and 21. A lot of these products have been around for years and all of them work as advertised.

83 is one of the most versatile products in the line. With the right pads, it will do 95% of the paint corrections we all have to deal with. I think the XMT line closely mirrors a lot of Meguiar's products in workability....4,3,2,1 and 360 are great and easy to remember.

I just got the Meguiar's SoLo kit and am going to try it on a black Bimmer this week. I'll be taking a lot of in-process pics for you all as well as Mike Phillips at Meguiar's.

See Ya folks......

ScratchX
The most effective way to safely remove fine scratches and swirls...Now by hand OR with a dual action polisher! Our new and improved ScratchX® uses diminishing abrasive™ technology to safely and effectively remove fine scratches, swirls, and oxidation. As you work ScratchX into the surface of your vehicle, the abrasives diminish and your paint surface is polished to reveal brilliant color and clarity. Clear coat safe, ScratchX will not create new scratches and will not simply "cover" fine scratches as most conventional products do.

#80 (AKA Speed Glaze)
Speed Glaze provides paint shop safe protection. Removes light to moderate swirls, oxidation and paint defects. Restores a glistening “new paint” shine. Versatile – can be used with a rotary buffer (wool or foam pad), D/A polisher, orbital or by hand. Easy, low dusting wipe-off.

Re-read what you just quoted.

I know what I quoted.

From personal experience. Had a Garage door mark to take off the roof of my truck. 80 didn't do anything to it after many passes. Put some scratchX on it and the mark was removed first pass. It could be me? Maybe I don't use the 80 properly.

Have you ever used them both Coupe?

Yes i use them both.

What you quoted says that #80 is more aggresive.

Dont believe me ask megauirs, they will tell you the same thing, #80 is more aggresive, not by a whole lot but it is more aggresive.

Scratchx is closer to #82 or #81.
