Meguiar's D114 Rinsefree Express Wash Is Discontinued

I wonder how many of you guys that are hoarding this stuff are still going to have it 10 years from now wondering when you're going to use it up. I have most of my quart sample that I bought in 2013, and it's on schedule to get used up by 2024 or so. I have it on my shelf with my #16 and my pre-VOC 845 and my 3M 05933 and 05937 and my Armor All Detailer's Advantage Tire Foam and some other stuff I stupidly bought because it was discontinued and I'd never be able to find anything else like it, it was the flavor of the month or too good a sale to pass up. Anybody need a half gallon of the Optimum blue Hyper Compound?

Yup, that's the other reason I took it out of my cart the other day before buying it.. I was like "I've got over a half gallon of it and I bought it like 2 yrs ago, when the heck am I even going to use it"?

They really did discontinue Armor All Detailers Advantage Tire Foam huh? That was my stuff back in the days! Lol.

I bought a gallon the the D114 last year around Christmas and still have not put much of a dent in it since I have far more regular soaps that I wanted to use. I almost had an urge to get another gallon but got over it.

I think so, there should be an Autopia thread about it from about 2005 or 2006. I think I bought about a dozen cans, I gave one away and I still have 4.5 left. It's too shiny for my tastes now, but my better half liked it, and it was especially good during the winter for a quick shine...but of course a coating is a better option today.

A gallon lasts me only months. I use it for everything. I also am very liberal with it. I'm not to concerned about being perfect with the dilution ratios

When my gallon arrives I'm going to store it right next to my stockpile of CD2 Engine Detailer that was discontinued years ago :)

So what's your point, Setec? LOL! I have a 1.5 gallon of 901, 4 half gallons of TW Ice soap, 4 half gallon Mothers soap, and at least 12 half gallon bottles of Meg's Gold Class soap that I bought on the dime. Looks like I'm as bas as you when it comes to hoarding. LOL! All for my own personal use.

I don't see what the big deal is about this stuff?

Is it some magic juice or something?

I guess people are upset because, supposedly, it leaves "nothing" behind.

What is the big deal???

Just find another rinseless you like: ONR, Pinnacle, Ultima, etc... They are all really good.

And if *somehow* these are "messing up" your wonder glass-ceramic coating's nano bridges, than your coating sucks.

 Same here.

I go through about a gallon every 6-8 months or so, mainly for wheel maintenance. The stuff really excels at this.

Not going to buy/stock up though. I'm just going to accept the discontinuation and let it go after this gal runs out. Think I'll try CG's new rinseless and see if it's good or garbage.

I have about 20-25oz, if anybody wants to trade for some Wolfgang uber let me know!

All recommendations pertaining the alternative products are great, but are they also perform the same versatility as waterless and rinsless wash with stripping wax ability?

The others are good but I think 114 was the best cleaner. I used it to clean the interior. I don't how uber or onr would be inside the car.

D114 is really really economical as a waterless wash & clay lube.

Because it is one of the only ones that works on coated cars. Everything else streaks, or hazes.

^^^:iagree:^^^

• An excellent interior and exterior cleaner!
• I also like the fact that it is "body-shop safe".

Bob

Bob, since you introduced me to this product may be you can answer this, what is the shelf life of D114? Is it worth to stock up 2-3 gallons and use them with in 4 years?

I'm sorry, I don't believe D114 stripped/strips durable wax at any dilution. It may strip off spent oils from polishes, but I known something like Eraser, that has *some* alcohol in it (more like a lot) - will not strip durable waxes - like Collinite.

IMHO, the only thing that you can wipe on a panel to reliably strip "wax" is either a strong acid, or a strong non water miscible solvent - like mineral spirits.

The thing is, waxes are composed of non water soluble components that generally repel things that are soluble in water (like rinseless washes). That is why there is no "soap" that can reliable strip wax.

APCs *may* strip wax (they are water soluble), but in order for them to do this reliably, they are best used neat - so they are at the very high end of the pH scale.

So if it isn't some type of strong alcohol, chemical solvent, or at the extremes of the pH scale; I don't think you can say you can wipe it on a panel to remove durable waxes - regardless of what the manufacturer claims.

I tested ONR on the interior of my old Bronco, it had years of dirt built up from camping and dog hauling.

I used 1 bucket, 3 gallons of water with 1.5 oz of ONR, a wash mitt, and drying towels. It took off 95% of the dirt from the vinyl floors, then I dipped a microfiber towel in the filthy water and washed my windows. They came clean!

I kept expecting to see mud spread around when things dried but that never happened. The bucked had at least an inch of silt at the bottom.

Now when I look at the bottle of ONR all I think is Voodoo!
