Meguiar's D114 Rinsefree Express Wash Is Discontinued

I'm not even sure why this disturbs me so much.

I've never used the product- yet -I was planning on buying my first jug as soon as I finished of this container of ONR.

Ever company has to make decisions for business purposes. I get that (and have made them in my company, too.) Some my customer's didn't like, also.

So why does this bug decision by Meg's bug me? Is it because I'm fairly new to detailing and a majority of my storage space is taken up by their stuff? (APC, Express Wax, Last Touch, Glass Cleaner, Interior Cleaner, Leather Cleaner, Leather Conditioner, Gold Class). (There are some Optimum products up there too.)

I'm not sure - but I'm taking this discontinuation personally! Don't they know I WOULD have bought some in the next month (or so) and that single jug would have changed their sales figures! Geez. :)

Some of us went through the same thing when they discontinued their D103 APC+. But we move on and find something else that is equivalent or even better.

If you want to try it out, now is the time to pull the trigger. I've seen other retailers already showing it out of stock.

Just buy some. I've had the same gallon for 2 yrs. and I'm bearly halfways through it. [and that includes giving 16oz away]
It's not like you're going to need another gallon of it next month...

Oldsmobile, Pontiac, Saab, Saturn, and now D114. Classics, that will all be missed:(

In 25 years Mike Phillips will have petrified D114 on his office shelf. Sitting next to 100 year old bottles of Mirror Glaze.

Damn, you're right. Grew up around GM people. I totally forgot Mercury and Plymouth:).

RIP Plymouth Neon and Mecury Mountaineer. I have no idea why they killed off these redundant brands:)
Same could be said for GM as well.

Ha ha, Ford used to have a plant here in Mahwah that built the Mercury Zephyr and the Ford...um whatever it was that was the same car...Fairmont. It was on the news when they put a Mercury badge on the front and a Ford on the back...even the people that worked there couldn't tell the difference, I guess.

I have a guess as to what may happen with D114. I'm guessing Wolfganf Uber rinseless styled/sized 16-20 oz bottles of D114 will be available at some point, but relabeled. And the price will be similar to Uber around $15-20 retail.

This is totally me and my scatterbrained idea. But I think Meguiar's could make it work financially. Figure 6 gallons (box) of D114 sell wholesale for around $100. Now, that same size box will hold volume wise 48 bottles of 16 oz Uber sized D114 bottles. Figure wholesale on D114 in 16 oz is $8.00 that makes Meguiar's around $400 in wholesale for the same size box. I would think more people would buy D114 in smaller sizes and buy it way more often then the gallon of D114.

I just bought a gallon. First time too because I like UWW+ and WG Uber.
I am in Scottsdale. Be happy to give you 16 OZ if you want some.

Looks like members on Autopia are getting their cancelation notices on D114 orders.

I read this whole thread and started freaking out even though I never even used the stuff! So I ordered 2 gallons.

I need to quit browsing this site.

OK, I figured I would join the madness as well. I just ordered a gallon. I'm just an enthusiast and never used before as I have ONR, ONRWW, UWW and Pinnacle WW. Nothing like being impulsive! Oh well, my kids will probably inherit what's left in the bottle as this will last a LONG time based on the dilution ratios.

Wow, all the people late to the party. I'm thinking about 30 days until I put a gallon on Ebay.

$90 (opening bid of course) sound about right ?

I'd like to see the surveillance video of AG's parking lot as employees load the cases of product they purchased (j/k of course).

•No more D114:
-Not going to panic.
-I'll just use up what I now have,
or may be able to procure in the
very near future.

•Afterwards, (and until there's an
identical product offered by some
other car-care products manufacturer):
-I'll just use up my stock of a coupla-few
gallons---of the USA version---of the below
product, in the interim.

My concern aside from the sadness of saying goodbye to my 1st Autogeek purchase, is it is that one rinseless product I would use when I'm being super careful on newly repainted cars. Because of the whole time needed for paint to gas, just having that I know for certain option thats a little safer than Waterless.

I'm not sure that any rinseless wash has enough "wax" in it to prevent outgassing, but I'm sure that ONR won't do it.

Bob,
That's a new one on me. I don't get the chance to keep up on this stuff like I was a few years ago.

Walnut festival next month, so keep the car show in mind.
