Meguiars D156 vs CG Hybrid V7 vs Autoglym Express Wax

Thank you very much guys!!!

After all the opinions and a great review from CEE DOG I finally ordered some Optimum Car Wax.

Maybe next gallon will be D156. :xyxthumbs:

Just ordered a gallon of D156 to compare to my OCW (OCW gives me streaking issues occasionally during drying pass of ONR wash). Hoping D156 is a little more user friendly, not too worried about durability as I re-wax once a month.

Review on my D156, great stuff, much easier application than OCW for me in a humid climate. Not sure on the durability yet, but not too interested in that because I re-wax about 1x/month.

Is it just me or what?
I got 1.5 months of very nice water beading and slickness then it begin to degrade for UQW.
Car never get washed and parked outdoor in Asia, with acid rain and heavy pollution.

My friend has a GMC Yukon and I used OCW as an LSP last year. She does not wash her car at all and it lasted ~4 months. If someone gets less than 3 I would say the surface prep was probably missing something.

OCW will add real protection unlike a lot of other spray/quick waxes. It's very easy to use, and shouldn't clog up an MF if you don't use too much. It takes very little to coat a panel.
Yep. I love OCW!! Since I can't really see a difference between this and an expensive wax, and I can do a car in 15 minutes, winner!!

Favorite is Meg D156. Exactly the same as Meg UQD with orange peel scent. Then it's a 3 way tie with Optimum, CG V7, and Autoglym.

D156 is also the lowest priced too!
But OCW is only $49 for 128 oz. That's only about $7 a bottle (17 oz). I plan on buying in bulk to save money.

Exactly. Sounds like a great wax for my base level package.

And, it lasts way longer than the other spray waxes mentioned. :dblthumb2: You can use OCW as a standalone LSP, while the other spray waxes are not meant for that.

In colder weather under 50 degrees OCW is a pita from my experience with it. D156 works effortlessly at 30 degrees as it does at 90 degrees. I think the Meg's product is probably the most cost effective, versatile spray wax out there.

Another +1 D156 I use it during final drying one or two mist per section this gallon will last a long time.

A side note some may find humorous... My wife discovered my D156 and I found her using it on all our SS appliances, our washer and dryer, all our mirrors and on our patio doors. Since she liked it so much I mixed a bit of D120 Glass Cleaner Concentrate with a couple ounces of D156 and wound up with a streak free cleaner that leaves the surface silky smooth and protected. Now I need to reorder more D156 as I find she is sharing this stuff with her family and friends. Getting the wife using this stuff has made her not raise an eyebrow when I order detailing products, LOL.

I like Megs D156 Spray Wax. You can apply to a wet car after washing to prevent water spots and protect the paint in one step. There's no need to avoid plastic trim! Meguiars Synthetic X-press™ Spray Wax dries clear on plastic trim - no staining! Can be applied in direct sunlight. Just spray and wipe on a clean wet or dry vehicle for a deep reflective shine.

I have to think a lot of it gets wiped away with the water. I'm going to use it after the car is dry for maximum benefit.

Ah! This discussion has just made me pull the trigger on a gallon of D156. I am almost out of my gallon of OCW and like others have said, it does give me problems when the weather isn't within a certain range...maybe my technique is wrong.

But since I've tired UQW, I know I'll like D156.

This forum is great for people doing research.

I love using D156. Very economical and makes the paint nice and smooth.
