Meguiar's DA MF System

Hey J504

I found that the center also gets too matted down to fluff up and this left me applying pressure with the sponge to fluff them up. I was worried it was going to destroy the pad. I also cut my bug sponge in two to give me more cleaning sides but think my rough cutting ended up making the sides rougher, making me think that was the reason for fibers being pulled out.

The denture brush definitely worked better but hopefully Shiny Lil Detlr is right about this shedding in the early stages of the pad! I got my kit in from the states as I live in South Africa and those pads are like gold to me :) Now if only Meg's included their pad brush in the kit....

FWIW, The kit brush works ok but air is so much better at cleaning the pads and removing spent polish, oils and paint that I'd not consider using anything but air going forward. I also think air is easier on the pad and could enable longer pad life. I've got about 30 details on the original pads and they still look good.

I am also liking the D301. The finish is flawless yet I can't comment on the durability of the wax. I've been following up my details with an IPA and #21 since I know what to expect from that sealant. I have just done a couple of personal cars and left the wax in place and will evaluate. If the wax lasts a couple months it will replace my IPA/sealant time and make me even more efficient.

This MF system has shaved close to half the time from my typical polishing stages. I LOVE this system.

One last comment. I've done two repaints with equally good results. Both were about 3-5 years since being resprayed though. I don't know what this system will do on newer resprays so anyone with some hands-on experience with fresher repaints please post your results.

Thanks for the input. After my first day of testing with one set of discs (cut and finishing) using the bug sponge I decided to pickup a denture brush, and the next day on the next set of pads it did it for the few panels I tested (cleaning after each panel). Could you possibly post a pic of your denture brush? I think mine might be a really cheap one. The bristles are quite stiff but seem to be flagged at the ends if I look real close.

Thanks again!

Mike, sorry I missed this before, but the denture brush I use is exactly like this:

I use compressed air, just keep the angle of the pad away from your face/clothes/car as it does throw off material in the angle of the pad spin.
