I find it excels at compounding...whether its using D300/M105...but on the finishing side, unless the paint is HARD, its not so stellar as you likely get marring trying to finish down on super soft paints, and most black paint...so its another example where generalizing a result may or may NOT work on the type of paint you are working on.

I will agree its a game changer for compounding or working strictly with hard paint.

I agree. This is also why Meguiar's specifically markets this towards the production detailing industry, not the show car detailing industry. Keep in mind Meguiar's is a huge company in "this" industry and the offer,

Professional Line for fresh paint environments
Detailer Line for cured paint environment
Consumer Line for enthusiasts (cured paint environments)
Marine Line for boat enthusiasts (finished products i.e. watercraft)
Fiberglass Mold Release Line (OEM fiberglass products, i.e. making watercraft)
Plastics Line

And they use to offer a number of other lines, OEM, Furniture, Co-Label but I don't know the current status of these... point being that specific lines are formulated for specific needs. That doesn't stop the "enthusiast" or "detailer" segment of society from using product intended for a different industry but keep in mind there is a rhyme and reason for everything.

Foam for final, show car finishing
To date, I have still not found a better replacement for any paint system for the final machine polishing step other than foam. Foam has a uniform surface texture, fiber pads have individual fibers rubbing against the paint. There's a difference there...

Big picture, match the system to the job. Plus, if you use any MF systems, you can always use a foam pad an an ultra fine finishing polish like the Menzerna SF 4500 for your last machine step before going to your LSP

was this after both steps or just the compounding step?

just compounding....I use Wolfgang 3.0 to seal and either Dodo or Sovereign for my wax so I never need the Meguiars Finishing wax...although it does smell freaking awesome

It's definitely a good system and a game changer for the detailing industry and one of the reasons I show this in my detailing boot camp. I believe in showing multiple ways to reach the goal and let the student decide the products and process that works best for their situation.

Mike Phillips's Detailing Boot Camp May 5th & 6th

At the last class everyone loved having the chance to try both MF systems side by side on a factory clearcoated Corvette.

Thanks for responding. I usually do 3 L-R and 3 top to bottom and finish with a criss-cross. I am using this system on my car and just looking to get a feel for correction time on a 4 door sedan.

Thanks!

When using the This kit, do you guys use the finishing polish it comes with or after D300 just jump to m205 with a foam pad?

Will It work on the Sand Marks anyone?

Yes, basically anything that has the ability to remove paint has the ability to remove sanding marks because sanding marks are a controlled scratch pattern in the paint and removing simply means removing some paint.

The real questions is using the Microfiber DA Correction System the "best" system for "you" to remove sanding marks.

Most pros would use a wool pad on a rotary buffer but if you don't own a rotary buffer or you don't feel confident using a rotary buffer then you could use alternative tools and even your hand.

For removing sanding marks using microfiber pads on a DA Polisher you're going to want to get something more aggressive than the D300 just for speeds sake, like the M105 or Bootleg M101 or what's coming next...

:)

I totally agree on foam to finish. I dont even think about buying yellow to compound!

Gosh I didn't count maybe 20-30 seconds per 3x3 section

I do not use the finishing wax because I have other products that I like better

A Barner and a Bammer agree on this,! I finish with the 3401 and a 6.5 gray or white and Optimum ll. Then I jewel with a Dewalt 849 X and a gold pad. After that we go back to being different as I apply Opti Guard and amp up the OG with Permanon! Only once or twice have I had to use M105 instead of D300 on my Megs G110 V2 DA to correct clear. Very fine work BB!

Both. I actually like the D301. It cleans the haze from D300 up nicely, it is easy to work with and the protection lasts a reasonable amount of time. I use it for friends/family daily drivers.

I finish my toy with foam/M205 and follow with a boutique wax.

Yes. I did some spot wetsanding on my duaghters car. I did not want to get the rotary out for a small spot, especially since it was near some sharp edges. So, I got the 3 in DA MF pads out and it cleaned up the sanding marks quite nicely. Fairly quick too.

Good to know about sanding marks. I use the 3" to wet sand so I would only have to swap the disk for a pad. Thanks Kevin!

Hows it going Jim? Have seen several of your posts lately, but, no direct communication. It is always a pleasure corresponding with you.

Let me know how you like the Mf pads for sanding marks. I was pleased. Much easier than dealing with the rotary for small areas.
