Meguires g110v2

1 out of 3 HD DA's I tried was good! Then, another guy posted about the same problem I experienced. I'd say the odds are pretty high that you could find yourself with a bad one. I mean, there is a NIGHT AND DAY difference between the 1 good one and 2 bad ones I tried.

it's still fairly new and we'll have to wait and see what's going on overall...

I think it's even worse that it's new. If you have a few lemons with a product that's been out for awhile, that's understandable. Isn't that what R&D is for? With the HD polisher, it's the poor Chinese build, in that you don't know what you're gonna get. Then, when you have people from the actual company that feed you complete BS about their product, face to face, that doesn't go over well with me either.

If you want the power of a forced rotation DA you need to learn to walk the dog.
I guess you can tell that to Kevin Brown, too. ;) I do not like how the 3401 feels while polishing, that's the bottom line. Am I not entitled to that?

Where is this HD polisher sold at? I can't find it anywhere, unless I'm using the wrong search terms online.

I agree. Then to hear they were deleting and blocking new posts from a member because he had negative to say about it...I heard enough...you say they lie to you...they hide peoples opinions...:nomore:not only will I not buy their polisher...I won't buy anything from them.

It's too bad the PCXP is underpowered(not that it can't get the job done) compared to some of the other DA's, but i like the fact it's built in the USA, isn't it?

Heh my friend, I don't like the feel of the 3401 either.:props:

Like Mike P. said, PC is missing the boat by not improving the power of their PC.

Hopefully it has as much power as the Meguires. I think the one I had may have only been running right about 10% of the time anyway. I know they say with it circuit board it was supposed to give you more power under a load...but this thing would be running then with no change in load it would speed up considerably...then drop back down. Well I'm going to try the Porter Cable. I think my son may have a couple jobs lined up this weekend. They are supposed to ship the new one when they see the old one in UPS's system so I should have by this weekend...fingers crossed.

I guess Mexico is more reliable than China. Ya really don't hear about many PC's failing. :dunno:

I would suspect that the difference isn't one of China vs. Mexico, but that the PC's are built in a Porter Cable plant, while the Meguiar's and others are contract-manufactured.

Gotcha. I'm a bit clueless about that type of stuff.

I think this is why many just go with the Griot's. It has a warranty to rely on just in case. I still think there is a market for a reliable, well engineered DA for $199 that is designed better than the current non-forced DA's. The extra engineering would offset the need for a lifetime warranty just as the Flex accomplishes.

The Griot's DA these days does not rotate the pad under pressure any better than the PCXP. If I had no other choices, I'd buy the PCXP.

It seems to me the market won't support that. I think there are two reasons, one is that likely their is some price ceiling that people don't want to exceed for these "entry level" polishers, and second that the manufacturers can't acheive that price without going to the Chinese contract mfg. The basic PC sells a lot more units as a sander than as a polisher, which is how Porter Cable is able to acheive the price point they do.

What I'm trying to say is that for every forum member there are probably 4-5 people who come to the AG site and buy a polisher and perhaps never use it much, and they are not going to pay the $199. I agree it would be great to have that option for a quality DA, but my take is the slice of the market is so small between the other DA's and the Flex it won't support the development and small-lot manufacturing of the machine.

I agree. I don't think that production costs are any lower in Germany than here. Any new manufacturing jobs in the US would help all of us!!
