So you're going to ruin 2 perfectly fine paint jobs in the same week for no reason at all? Great plan :applause:. Sounds like you've been sniffing the clear coat while spraying..

I seriously wouldn't let you touch so much as a picture of my car with a wash mitt in your hand.

Mask! Also make sure the Bimmer is not in the garage. You might already know this so I am sorry if it came off as condescending.

Where are the pics? I wanna see how this turns out, one of the best threads on any forum ever!!!

Well i cant do it in the garage because my dad keeps some of his wine there, there are like 300 bottels so i cant move them out. Outside is clearly not the right place to do it. But right now i dont have any where else to do it, maybe i can rig someting up so that dust does not get on the wet CC. Also there is something that worrys me, I dont want to have that spot look shinnyer than the rest of the car. So i am debating it. Thoughts anyone? And dont respond unless you have something helpful to say, I dont care how much some of you guys are ROFL, keep it to your self.

If you would only take some of your own advice you might have a chance in life. ROFLMAO!!!!! :D

Hey man if it's really messed up why don't you strip it down and get a bunch of really good pics and post them. Then maybe some of the experts here (not being myself at all) can talk you through fixing it. I would give you props for that. It would be really cool.

Ever forward!

why not just wet sand the entire car so that it's uniform. That way you get more wet sanding practice, and you can get rid of any spot that looks out of place. I think this is a better option than spraying on clear coat to that 1 spot. That won't look right. Just tell your dad you are removing the orange peel, he will be super stoked on it. It's about time your dad got a new car anyways, things a friggin 2001.

dude, you should find someone in your area, that you trust, to use a rotary on spot you made. A rotary should be able to take care of any scratches. U could even finish it off with your orbital polisher. Dont "shoot" clear on a black Porsche... You are not a body man. This is my serious advice, I am not messing with you.

Yeah that would probably be best. But how do you do that? There are plenty of people in the forums to whom I would entrust my car, but I don't know anyone locally. I imagine that a lot of people are in the same position. Does anyone have some tips for finding a good pro in your area?

I have followed up the work of a number of "professionals," in my area. Regarding their work I will say this: I wouldn't want them standing in the same room as a picture of a rotary buffer that was in the same area code as the worst picture that was ever taken of my car.

I know that there must be some competent people out there, but I don't know who they are. For me that would be a crap shoot.

If it were me I would just plan on a whole bunch of PC time. I am about a year away from stepping up to a rotary myself so I wouldn't have any other way to get it fixed. Of course if it were me I wouldn't have done it in the first place. LOL I'm not laughing at you JoD. Just step back, let the people here get a good evaluation of things, and hopefully help you fix it.

Yea I ment someone from the forums, or someone who you know does good work...

theres nothing really that needs fixing, its nearly perfect. You can sit and look at it all day and you wont see a thing. I was just thinking of spraying clear coat on to replace the lost clear coat. But i do think it might look diffrent than the rest of the car, so ill wait and see. Hopefuly i can get a test pannel soon and see how it looks.

GOOD! No more messing around!! hahaha, Please do not try to spray clear! It will look like an eye sore. A 996 isn't a cheap car to respray, please just leave the car alone!!! Use a scrap pannel. Good to hear that you were able to remove the sanding marks.

Its not my forum, but it seems to me having a guy like this posting, giving advice and calling himelf a "Pro Detailer" meanwhile obviously being a disrupting influence, hurts the credibility of the forum, and thereby, the business interest the forum was created to support. But I know the deal--if ya don't like it, ya leave.

Kinda odd that one guy comes along, irritates people (was even banned, which I suspect hasn't happened alot), and the OTHER forum members get cautioned. My .02.

300 bottles of wine and they are in a garage? Not a wine cellar? This whole Joy thing is like a movie with the hands of the clock spinning backwards.

My dad has been collesting wine for many many years, in the garage there is a self supported wine closet which is temp and humidity controled. The other 350 bottles are in the celler. But please stick to the topic and contribute, if not just add me to your ignore list.

Looks like you've got a new daddy on the forum. Thanks for the advice, I think I'll just log out instead.
