First off, I'd like to thank Corey for sending me a sample of the Menz PL !

So lately we have heard a lot about Menz PL and that a lot of members use and like it. So I wanted to do a side by side comparison to really compare the application, removal, feel and look of both of these sealants. I decided using the hand prep and application method because A: its a small panel and B: I wanted to apply the sealants a little thicker than a machine to get a better feel for the removal process. I don't do duability test, otherwise I'd have enough sealants and waxes to last thru the year 12,000AD:)

So Mom's trunk became the test panel for this. Started off with WG Paintwork Polish Enhancer!

Then a simple tape line with MPL applied to the left and WG DGPS to the right.

I allowed The sealants to dry for about an hour give or take ten min.

My thoughts:

Application: Very easy on both parts with the WG allowing the foam applicator to glide just a hair easier.

Removal: Both equally effortlessy. Remember I applied both a bit thicker than I normally would also. By easy I mean no pressure and one swipe!

Slickness: Equal again. To note: That when rubbing the MF across the area where no sealant was applied, I felt a considerable bit more drag on that half inch area. So both products do add a good amount of "slickness"

Looks: I really wish I chose a different color or had a better camera for this....so you are gonna have to take my word.

From close up(3-5 feet) they looked exactly the same. When standing back a bit(say 5+ feet) the WG had a more 3D shine and made the paint look deeper. It seemed to make it look a bit richer. The Menz from farther away seemed to give the look that something was on the paint adding shine and not part of the paint. Kind of like plastic film was placed on the paint. Still looked very nice but this is what I would consider the "Hard Candy Coating" look typical of a sealant.

After inspecting 24 hours later: Both the slickness and apperance of both sides did not change that I was able to notice.

Winner....... Thats for you to decide if you like a deeper 3D look or the Hard Candy Coating look. Otherwise, I find both of these products a breeze to both apply and remove.

Thanks for looking guys and girls!

Curious to see what kind of durability each product exhibits.I think that the products are actually very similar, besides color they have nearly identical smell, consistency, ease of applying/removing.I thought that Menz manufactures some of the Wolfgang products?

Thank you for doing the review/comparison Jim.

Jim,

Nice review and I enjoyed your objectivity. Both products seem to be pretty equal and I'm curious to see how the panel looks after 4 to 6 washings.

I like the review format you used. It was clear and a very easy read....:props:

Thanks for the great review and posting your test and its results.....:dblthumb2:

Cool review. I've never been a fan of the "hard candy coating" look of most sealants. Just too plasticky-looking. I'm looking forward to trying th WGDGS 3.0 in the future.

Thanks for this review Jim!:xyxthumbs:

I like Powerlock as it's pretty much the same thing and a bit cheaper I think.

I would of have thought that you got my package Ted :(

Nice review, got the same impression as well, however i don't have the same consistency on hard-candy bit on both LSP, they differ from application to application. Yet if you polycharged them, both will definitely form a hard candy coating effect. Never care for durability on both LSP, with application and removal as easy as they can be waxing is just plain fun with either

Excellent writeup and comparison Jim! Thanks for helping the community with this. I had only used them each once or twice and the WG I used on a color that made it much less enjoyable..(silver/light green) ugly. I had no problem with it but the color of the vehicle I think must have biased me a bit towards the MPL.

Thanks again!!

you'd all be remiss not to try Four Star UPP also ...

Max just sent me a sample of the Powerlock; can't wait to try it out!:dblthumb2:

Thanks for the comparison. The choice of works describing the observed distances was interesting. I have not used PL but thought you described WGDPS with that addition to the paint comment. It leaves a nice reflective surface that makes flakes show through...not dulled like some.

I am finally going to try this stuff and I expect I will love it based on my love for the Ultima line. Bring on the 4 Star Im the MAN

I think you should do an entire car to get a good idea of what the Menzerna looks like. I have used 3 16 oz bottles of it, and IMO it does not have a hard candy look. Its right in line with with the look from WG, and Blackfire. IMO.

All 3 sealant are very similar in looks, but I prefer very much so the Menzerna because it was tweaked to setup to be removed faster. More geared towards detailers IMO. You can remove it withint 10-15 minutes and get max protection, slickness and durability.

Thanks for the comments guys. Remember these are "my thoughts" as viewed thru my eyes as far as the apperance goes. And everyone views things differently:) Even after looking at the trunk lid again, I still like the look of the WG side better. Just my opinion!
