Menzerna polishes

How do you like power gloss compared to 105?

They are both great cutting compounds . I really can't say I like one more than the other.
Both need to be followed up by a finer grade polish.

What is a good final product to use after compounding and using a finishing polish? Any particular Menzerna polishes that will give that extra pop? My plan is to use M105/M205, and then I just wanted something to add that extra bit of shine.

From what I've read, Menzerna 85rd would be exactly what you're looking for.

Great! Thanks! Now let's just hope it stays on sale 'til I'm ready to place my order here in the next couple weeks. :xyxthumbs:

I don't have a rotary, so I think Menz PO85rd will probably be the way to go. What is the blue CCS pad? Is that a polishing pad, finishing pad, finessing pad, or what? I'm going to be getting the new Meguiar's G110v2 with the Soft Buff 2.0 pads.

OK, so that's a finessing pad. Would a finishing pad do the same thing?

You can use a grey one as well. I was taught by others on here to finish w/ the blue.

Gray Low Profile Finishing 5.5 inch Foam Pad - Composition is firm enough to withstand added pressure during final finishing to remove buffer swirls. It has no cut and will apply thin, even coats of waxes, sealants, and glazes.

Blue Low Profile Finessing 5.5 inch Foam Pad – Flat pad has soft composition for applying glaze, finishing polish, sealants, and liquid waxes. Flat pad provides full contact with paint surface to minimize the pressure applied by the user.

My Soft Buff 2.0 pads will be 7 inches with the backing plate. Do those blue pads require a different backing plate?

You can get the CCS pads in larger sizes , just remember that you need to have at least a 1/2" smaller backing plate then your pad (for safety margin) i.e. (minumum examples):

3.5" bc - 4" pads
5" bc - 5.5" pads
6" bc - 6.5" pads
etc.

You can't go wrong with the Menzerna fav four kit. The only thing missing is 85Rd.The Deluxe jr. 600 towels are the BEST!!

Here's some pictures to give you an idea...

The softer the pad, the more gentle to the paint but there does come a point where you can't really get any more softer except to start using a light touch.

EDIT: How is Menzerna Top Inspection? Will Meguiar's Final Inspection do the same job?

Different types of products. Top Inspection is for chemically stripping the paint, it can be used like a quick detailer in that you can mist it on and the wipe off light dust or polish residue but it's not really meant to make paint look clear and glossy.

Meguiar's Final Inspection is a body shop safe or fresh paint safe spray detailer and it will do more to make paint look clear, glossy and shiny versus Top Inspection.

Different types of products. A lot of people would use IPA or MS or even APC instead of Top Inspection to do the same type of work.

:)

I have personally found Menzerna to be the polishes I like best and offer most. They are so darn easy to use, and provide great results. I too still feel the use of diminishing abrasives in a novice or hobbist session offers an extra degree of safety. Others will of course disagree.

But I would offer three suggestions that almost any detailer should find as perfect for them:

Menzerna SIP and Nano Polishes
Megs 105 and 205
Wolfgang 3.0 TSR and FG

Couple of notes. Megs uses diminishing abrasives but are pretty easy to use so included. Wolfgang offers the smallest sizes in 8 ounce and thus sometimes the best starting point for a new polisher. No wrong choice, but indeed some options.

Quick question. I'm getting ready to order some Menz polishes based on all the positive comments I've seen here. So far have only used the XMT series. I want to get the SIP and Nano for sure. Do I need the 85rd too or does the Nano do pretty much the same thing? One less step would be a good thing. TIA

Nano (106FA) does finish down quite well on its own and most would never need 085rd. Its really for the special times when you want to jewel/gem a surface. Infact SIP finishes down so nicely I suspect some can jump straight to 085rd and skip Nano. No wrong choice ...

Excellent, thanks very much. I think I'll get all 3 so I can try some different combos and see what happens. I appreciate the info.:xyxthumbs:

I was looking at the Menzerna chart and I was just curious, what is the difference between SIP and Power Finish, and between Nano and Final Finish (Final Polish)? Why is Nano so much more than Final Polish? Is there something that makes it better? Looking at the chart, PF and FF look fairly similar in terms of cut and gloss to SIP and Nano. What are the working times of PF and FF?

Menzerna Polishing Compounds Products, menzerna polishes, menzerna car polish, menzerna nano polish, menzerna final polish, menzerna compound,

not sure what the difference is but the power/super finish combo did a damn good job on my f150
