I have found the Menzerna chart about what products to use on different
defects but it does not say if rotary is required or if PC is ok.

I have a PC and plan on purchasing ccs pads so I need to know which polishes I can use with it. I was thinking of PO 106FF and SIP PO 83Q.

Thank you

Both of those work wonderfully with the PC. Youll love it.

Depends on the use

If you're tryin to polish out sinificant swirls, scratches or wetsand marks, then the Menzerna Power loss is a better starting point than the SIP. Roatry machine with an orange pad or a purple foamed wool make short work of any of these typs of defects. I would think that you COULD use a PC, but it would take a lot longer than a rotary. The 106FF should work well with a PC. I've recently converted from a PC to a rotary and find even with my relative inexperience I am able to polish wth the rotary and not leave swirls or holograms using the menzerna products above. I went straiht from the PG to the 106 with the rotary, wool with the PG, and blue foam with the 106, and had excellent results. I was working on a tan/gold Honda so that color is fairly forgiving. Watched Todd from Trop Detailing do the same process to a Black BMW, his results were excellent as well.

No sense in starting out with something like Power Gloss. You start out with the least aggressive combo you think will work. SIP with rotary should remove 2500 grit sanding marks.

D & D
Would you say both polishes are good basics for all clear coats?

Not D&D, but the menz SIP and 106ff are awesome.. SIP is very versatile (finishes well with a polishing pad, fairly aggressive with a cutting pad), and the 106ff finishes amazingly clear. Both work well with the PC too. And yes, they work on any clears..

I remember reading something killr wrote that said it might not be good on soft clears. I dont have anything to back that up, or disagree with it. But because Menzerna is a little expensive, I reserve it for the harder clears. Soft- medium clears get Optimum.

But I agree with everything Dan said. I love 106FF. Cuts pretty well even with the PC and leaves an amazing shine. Im assuming he has experience using SIP or 106FF on soft clears?

Everyone thanks for responding so quick.
This obsession of taking paint to the next level is wild.
Have been thinking of giving up 20yr managerial career for auto detailing.
But lots to learn first.

WOW is all I can say.

I've used it a few times on the soft clears with no ill effects. Both the toyota and honda, as well as on my mustang which has been painted within the last year, and has a super soft clear. I realize its not a whole lot of experiece, but I will continue to use it..

I agree with everyone. I have SIP and PO106FF and the results are absoutly stunning and I used a PC.

Menzerna polishes were designed to remove very fine (3000 grit) swirls from the new, super-hard, ceramic clear coats. These are the BASF clear coats being used on the Maybach and 2004-5 Rolls Royce Phantom and PPG's CeramiClear which is being used on the 2005 Mercedes C-Class, they can also be used on conventional clear coats.

On Ceramiclear and other hard clear coats (i.e. Audi, Corvette, BMW, VW, etc) and most other paint systems I would recommend a two level foam pad / polish system to really bring out the paint. Start with PO 106ff and an LC Orange foam pad and follow with white foam.Menzerna polishes will not finish up dry, but will always have a hazy film to them. Work them until the haze changes from the polish colour to almost transparent

Product specific-Menzerna Polishes- are foam pad ‘dependant’ as far as its paint correction abilities are concerned;
Power Gloss (POS 34A) cut 5.0 - gloss 1.5 (Yellow or Orange LC CCS foam pads)
Super Intensive Polish (PO83Q) cut 3.5 – gloss 3.0 (Orange LC CCS foam pads)
Final Polish (PO85U) cut 3.0 - gloss 4.0, a White LC CCS foam pad
Nano Polish (105FF) for light surface marring and / or surface finishing, use wax as a lubricant .cut 2.5 - gloss 5.0 for LSP ready use a White LC CCS foam pad, these polishes can also be used for conventional

Menzerna polishes were designed to work in the controlled temperature / humidity environment of a paint shop finishing line, so be aware that working outside you may have issues like excess humidity, heat, etc that will affect there performance especially with the Nano polish (105FF)
