MF Pads, which one and why?

I know old thread, but the Surbuf microfinger pads cut like a hot knife through butter.

Tony,

Make sure the Meg's MF pads you're buying have "made in the USA" stamped on the back. The adhesive has been upgraded on these pads. If you buy old stock, you will be more than disappointed. The Meg's MF pads give the best performance, but the first run, there was major problems with the adhesive delaminating. The "made in the USA" improved adhesive is MUCH better! They do not delaminate. With this improvement, the Meg's MF pads are hands down the best!!! :dblthumb2:

Mark,

I'd already bought the first MF correction system when I started this thread. Since then I've bought another one, and all of them are the 'new and improved' USA pads. I'm learning to love um' for sure.

Thanks for everyones advice. I am going to try the Meguiars one and I might also order one of the buff and shine and lake country ones just to try for myself.

I know that Meguiars recommends their usage of their own backing plate and MF pads together. Has anybody use the Lake Country backing plate with Meguiars MF pads without problems for an extended period of time?

I just ordered 2 packs of Megs MF cutting pads to give a try. I will have to give them a try once they get here on Friday.

I started with Optimum MF pads, ordered the Megs once I got my Rupes. I have 3 sizes of pads, 3.25 and 5.35 from Optimum and 6 from Megs, I prefer the megs pads. They feel more sturdy, one of my 3.25 pads i can't get the fibers to stand back up, the pad is now oblong as well. I'd like to try the B&S pads however they foam looks thicker which from my understanding won't work as well with a DA. Perhaps I'll try the surbuff pads next.

Optimum MF Polishing pads for cutting/polishing. Why?, you asked. Because they work. Period.

Used with compounds, polishes, AIO's and even used with aluminum polish for bumpers and large panels. Frequently used to remove al. polish after polishing wheels with foam.

Used on bumpers, grill surround, and tail pipes.^^^

One pad with aluminum residue. One with OHC.^^^

Pressure washer rinse. ^^^

Top left OMF pad (brownish: single stage metallic paint system) test spot ~ AIO. 1/2 trunk lid durability test.
Top right used with OPS. ^^^

After 2 wash, 3 rinse cycles with pressure washer. ^^^

These are durable pads IMO. I run them on both PC DA's and rotaries.
I had two new pads (1- 5.25 and 1- 6.25) delaminate from the face on their first panel. One phone call to Penny and replacements arrived in 3 days. Now, I try to buy in bulk when on sale. Price match at OPT.

Meg's was previously my favorite. They have the best cut, but aren't durable for beans! Overall, the best are Optimum MF pads. They have a smooth polishing action and fairly good cut. Most important, they're durable!! I really like them!
