Is the special microfiber towel detergent worth it or not needed for washing them?
 
I believe so. I use Micro Restore. FWIW, if it's good enough to for Corey @ CarPro to use on Microfiber Madness towels, then it's good for me. It's also on sale on AG right now. I believe if you're going to invest hundreds or thousands on MF's, why skimp on washing detergent?
 
I use the CG microfiber detergent and it works great. I do believe it works better than regular laundry detergent.
 
the BF microfiber wash has worked well IME and I wouldn't hesitate to purchase it again...
 
I just started using the HD product. I had been using All Free and Clear for years. So far I like what I see. Been using only about 1.5 oz in a HE washer.

You are going to get alot of opinion, yours will be the only one that matters.
I have been using Towel Kleen and find that it works better than others and the price
is great also. At $17.99 a gallon.
 
As a representative of the 3D/HD product lines, I really feel the need to like their products to recommend them to people. If a product isn't up to my expectations I simple don't support them. That said, I really love 3D Towel Kleen. Not only is it extremely const effective, but I have never had my towels stay looking this great with any other detergent. Gret cleaning power and it keeps them feeling soft.

and compared to "Free & Clear" type regular laundry detergent, it's actually cost effective if you can get it for the right deal, shipped.

I second. I was having issues with some other brands leaving product in towels and then their absorbency was getting worse. Bought 3d and they are back to normal and look great too.

Yeah, cuz in my case, my local grocery does bogos so I stock up on the free and clear, so like 64 wash loads / $4.99 that blows away 128 oz / 2oz per load for $17.99. But, I thought I'd give it a try.
 
I found out the hard way the Laundry detergent caused streaks to appear on my finish that's why I always use a MF detergent saves you butt loads of cash hahaha.

Regular detergents have limited effectiveness when it pertains to removing oil/water emulsions, silicones and waxes from the intricate fibers. There are several options on the market... Much like laundry detergent boosters for clothing, Griot's Garage offers Microfiber and Foam Pad Cleaner. The best method for thorough cleaning of microfiber includes running your machine on Hot Water setting. Throw in a Tide Detergent pack or liquids, along with Micro Fiber and Foam Pad Cleaner (3-4oz), Double rinse.

I use Tide "free" detergent. Have since forever. When it gets to the rinse cycle I pour in about a half a cup of vinegar. Works great for me. Towels are plush, and ready for action.

I have CG wash, I tried SOOO HARD to make it work....but when I only used it in the wash on my HE machine it actually made the towels feel coarse and less than they used to be.

What's the best HE machine friendly wash? Griot's stuff looked interesting...but I haven't heard anything about how it works with an HE machine.

How about the Towel Kleen? Is that HE friendly? I would hate to buy a gallon of the stuff only to be screwed like I am with the CG stuff. :(

I use towel kleen in a HE washer.

Works great.
 
I ran my first ever load of MF towels, it was a load of about 24 costco towels. I used CG micro wash in a front loaded HE machine, I put the detergent in the detergunt slide out thing.

Ran on warm/warm and dried on low, Towels tat were realy dirty came out stained but feel clean. The CG wash is as thin as water, I cant see how this can work when they say to use 1-2 oz. Besides its expensive.

I was thinking of presoaking them in some simple green/water overnight first next time to get the waxes out. Why cant we just use regular detergent woth no additives?
