So the brief from the client for this detail was simply to get the paint on this daily driver as 'right' as safely possible...no interior, no engine bay, no wheels etc...
Products used:
-Chemical guys Maxi Suds II
-CM30 cyclonic cleaner
-Autofiness Citrus Power
-Cyclo polymer hand car wash
-Autofiness Oblitarate
-Carpro Iron-X
-Crazy Detailer Smooth Clay Kit
-Menzerna FG400 / Orange LC pads
-Chemical Guys Black Light Hybrid Radiant Finish / Green LC pads
-Collinite #845 Black LC pad
-Chemical Guys Hybrid v7 Optical Sealant
-Turtle Wax - Platinum Series Revitalising Tyre Dressing
Total time taken 14 hours
When the vehicle arrived it was obviously covered in surface dirt and the paint looked very dull and lifeless (from years of poor maintenance)
The vehicle was then pre-washed with the foam cannon
After that, all the bugs and tar was removed and the car washed using the 2 bucket method. This was followed by a complete iron-x and then claying which removed any remaining bonded contaminants, of which there were MANY, revealing the horror that lurked below.
After assessing the condition of the paint and a few test spots, I settled on Menzerna FG400 on a LC Orange CCS pad. This removed 95% of the swirl marks and a decision was taken to not try to remove all the RIDS in an effort to ensure the longevity of the clear coat - there were just too many of them, and the bulk of them were really deep.
Rear quarter panel before/after
Front quarter panel before/after
50/50's on doors (this is after 1 pass with FG400, but prior to any LSP)
I then laid down a coat of Chemical Guys Black Light Hybrid Radiant Finish, 2 coats of Collinite #845 and 1 coat of Chemical Guys Hybrid v7 Optical Sealant, leading to these reflection shots
Thanks for looking
