Well this is my first detail session here in Germany. Upon arrival to my work center I noticed this hood that was hung upon the wall. The hood was a going away gift for a Chief that left a few years ago. Unfortunately it was given to him after his house hold goods were picked up and he was living from a suitcase in the hotel. With no way of bringing this hood back to the U.S. he donated it to the shop. It has been on the wall for a few years I believe and in this time we can see how dirty it is.

I couldn't stand looking at this hood in the shape it was and had to do something about. Today I had the opportunity to give it some TLC.

-Blew all the dust and cobwebs off with an air chuck
-Cleaned up with UWW+
-Clayed with UWW+ and Meguiar's Mirror Glaze blue clay
-Correction with Orange heavy cut 6.5" hybrid, Wolfgang TSR, 3401, speed 4
-Polished with white hybrid 6.5", Wolfgang FG, 3401, speed 5
-Protected with 2 coats of Wolfgang Deep Gloss Liquid seal
-Topped with 1 coat Wolfgang Fuzion

This hood's graphics are painted in, not vinyl

Even after all the dust was blown off with an air chuck.

Didn't have much contamination.

After getting all the crud off there were some minor swirls and scratches.

Cant really see the normal 50/50 pic of swirls but the gloss has improved here.

What better way to attack this paint here in Germany than a 3401 with Wolfgang products?

Great job, it's nice to see how Detailing is always following you. :xyxthumbs:

What an awesome first detail over there Mike.

It came out looking great and I am sure your transformation will be well appreciated!

That came out beautiful! Nice topic, a pleasure to watch. Also, congratulations for your very proactive attitude, 'someone' has to take care of everything else or it will always be there, 'hanging dirty on the wall'.

You gave a new look and 'healthy' feeling to your work ambience.

Thank you for the topic,

Kind Regards.

THank you sir! Glad you enjoyed the read.

Lol, that nasty hood was bothering me. I have to walk under that thing everyday. Now it's a pleasure to look at.

Totally awesome dude!

Great work and attention to details, as usual, Mike!!

Just curious:
Has this "client" signed-up for your advised scheduled maintenance program with you yet?

So what kind of airplane does that hood belong too LOL!

Nicely done Mike!

An Impala! It's the new Aircraft! Lol in all seriousness I believe it came from an old Impala going to the junkyard.

Thanks Claude!

Sweet :xyxthumbs:

Is that blue paint transfer onto the white pad? Is that a single stage paint?

Well its about time!! I have been waiting for your resurrection thread for ever.. :D .. I know you were going crazy over there not being able to spread your detail wings as much as you would like. Happy to see you got to make use of your detailing skills again brotha! It came out great!!

No. The hood has plenty of clear on it. The Wolfgang Finishing Glaze polish is gray in color and that's what you see on the pad. :xyxthumbs:

Thanks for the kind words Jace!

I am going through withdrawals over here! It sucks! Lol

I bet he wants that hood back now, lol. Nice work as usual. Have fun in Germany.

Ah, makes perfect sense as to why it was only on the white pad. And maybe it is more gray... Color-blindness always gets the best of me :D
