Not that I own every mircofiber towel ever made (although I do own quite a few, I'll post pictures really soon).

I think the the top 5 softest MF towels are:

1 Chinchillas
2 Adams double soft
3 Griot's green spray on car wash towels
4 AG's Super Soft Deluxe Blue Microfiber Towels with Rolled Edges
5 Cobra's Deluxe Jr. 600

I heard a lot about those Boarderless Blond towels so I'm waiting for Zaino to get them in stock.

What's your opinion???

i use the ones from microfibertech they are 530 gsm and work really well.

ive also heard the pakshak ones are good but have yet to try them

If you can't wait for them go to the Duragloss site and buy a Plush Microfiber Polishing Cloth if you want to see what the material is like, the DG towel has a much different construction though.

Have you used the blue Griot's towels? How would you compare them to the green?

They looked the same to me other than color. I have the blue and really like them.

Without a doubt - Car Pro's BOA edgeless.

MF's 530 is an excellent towel. That and Autoality's purple towels (also Korean) are some of my favorites. Even so, the BOA is the towel I would reach for most.

The blue and green are same MF just different colors.

The DG polishing cloth is very unique. It is folded over and stiched I guess? I like it for a final wipe. It is very soft and thick!

Yes, the actual MF material is very similar to the Zaino Blonde (but as you note the construction of the towel is not) yet very different than most MF towels. Another strange Zaino/DG coincidence. The only other MF product I have that has fibers like these two towels is the Bone wash sponge.

I am very confused with all the many towel made and sold.
Does anyone have a list what towel does what thing best.

What do you use to for the many appications in keep a car nice a clean?

Is there a link?

Thanks

Oh, geez...just when I promised myself Metropolitan's edgeless would be it.

Damn it, you guys.

Personally, I buy different towels just to sample them. When it comes to usage, I try to keep it as simple as possible.

Interior/QD/Rinseless/Waterless - I like towels with long/thick naps; for trapping particles. AG's rolled edge is excellent for this. I switch between rolled edge & purple towels from Autoality.

Drying/buffing/waxing - Carpro's BOA. It's the softest & most luxurious in my inventory.

About glass - Just about any clean MF works for me. I have a set of waffle weaves, but often I grab which ever closest that's clean. Yeah, I'm being a little lazy here.

Wheels & door jams - Costco yellows.

One very soft and nice towel that I never see mentioned is the MicroFiber Tech Korean 460 gsm. This towel is unusually soft and good for any paint use

I have a very similar set (same color) from ADS. I wonder if they're the same towels.

There are no hard and fast rules. Waffle weaves are typically associated with drying, and to some degree with less lint which may be good for glass. There are different nap heights, some people find that the flat-weave towels are good for hard-to-remove residues (some find them good for glass, too), while thicker naps would normally be used for applications where you don't want to grind dirt into the paint, such as QD'ing and waterless and rinseless washes. Long naps might also be good for dusting like on interior surfaces.

Also different towel types or colors might be used to identify different uses so as not to cross-contaminate towels (you might want to keep your glass towels free of other car chemicals, or not use wheel towels on paint).

Also, there is a lot of hype in microfiber, and sometimes you have to shop around to get the best deal. Sometimes you can find identical towels at different price points in different stores.

The blue is very soft but to my hands the green has a slighter softness. In a top tep blue would be problebly 6th or 7th.

Seeing the discussion on one color vs another feeling softer I remembered something. I wish I could remember where, but I've read (and it was backed up by something related to dyes etc.) that lighter color towels will actually be softer than a darker color of the same material. I've no idea if that holds true however.

What kills me about MF towels is the cost, I mean anyone that has looked knows you can order them by the thousands for dimes on the dollar compared to what we are all paying. Any size, any gsm rating, color, texture, dual weave, single weave, you name it. Units that bring $6 ~ $7 (or more) can be had for less than $2 maybe less than $1.50, if you're willing to order say 4000 ~ 6000. (not exact numbers but y'all get the idea) Heck, the 360's can be had in huge lots for a buck or less!

It amazes me that I've not seen a 'group buy' here for such thing. (Don't wanna' break any rules btw) I've seen group buys on tons of stuff that you would use in say a home theater. Stuff like speakers and wiring, (which have 80% ~100% markups), mid-line and even higher end projectors (which have maybe 30%~40% markups). On car forums we've seen wheels, intakes, plenums, headers and cat back systems, not to mention things like body kits. Just seems like a natural progression, but whadda I know. :dunno: I bet if say there were some nice, heavyweight towels in the 360, 460, 530 range that had a price in the $1.50 ~ $2 range with a minimum say 50 towel per lot order that us AG'ers would snap up thousands upon thousands in a hurry. Imagine opening a 100 towel or 200 towel order and just rolling around in them!?!?! Gotta' admit, it'd be pretty darned cool. (In a Twilight Zone kind of way.)

I now return you to your previous channel.... dream state has been suspended. ;)
