I would fully agree in getting a water tank! Being equipped is key whether its always needed or not! I started in a shop just doing autos but as business grew i set up a mobile service and now have a bus washing contract where i go to them and theres no access to water! I myself have two 250 gallon tanks! mainly because they were free lol

Is that really true I still find it hard to believe if a customer hires a mobile detail person they would let them use their water and electricity??

I almost always plug in but a generator is nice to have if you're totally remote. As far as the water goes, I would never use tap water to wash a car, at least not the ultra hard stuff we have in San Diego County. I prefer not to bring my de-ionizing system with me and instead keep it at home and just fill my 75 gallon take with d-i water. It usually gets me through a day.

Well you didn't ask for it but here's my perspective! Am not and never will be a 'pro detailer'. Just a guy who likes his car clean. In fact, I could reasonably see myself HIRING a detailer!

Two things;

1) If I saw that van parked at the hardware store, driving down the street, or something else; I'd think seriously about calling you! A) It looks great. And B) It tells me you take this seriously. You're a real professional!

2) Some, like myself, don't have outside spigots or outside power (apartment). If you were in my area, I'd totally consider hiring you now and then to come wash my cars and bikes every couple of weeks! I could just park them down at the end of my parking lot on 'wash day' so they'd be out of the way (and you'd have room) and let you have at it.

So that's me anyway! I think the Van looks great. I saw a mobile cleaning service van the other day (house cleaning, not car cleaning, but still). Was really grimey, caked in dust in the back from gravel roads but also what looked like months of road grime accumulated on the bottom of the van. Now, it wasn't a mobile car detailer; but still, I'd have reservations about hiring someone to clean anything of mine if the vehicle they work out of is filthy! If those pics are how that van looks all the time, then I bet that van will become an awesome marketing tool for you!

My generator is left in the van. The exhaust is ran ouside. The vac is the only thing I take out of the van .

Sent from my SPH-L710 using AG Online

Get a 35' pool hose from Home Depot or wherever and just adapt it to your vacuum. No more lugging the vac around:xyxthumbs:

Romans5.8, I was in no way denigrating the guys' setup at all. I think it's awesome. I've just never had a problem with a client allowing me to plug in if electricity is available close by. In regards to the water, De-ionized water does a better job on everything as well as making a detailer's life a lot easier without the stress of water spotting a car. I prefer just bringing that with me but I have traveled with a de-ionizing system that I could hook up to any hose bib on very rare occasions.

Thanks man. Yeah, I agree...that Kranzle looks good. I like that better! More pressure, and it looks like a better build. :dblthumb2:

Nice did you ever get that KRANZLE PRESSURE WASHER?
I've been considering as well, but wanted to make sure that it could pull on it's own, but heard that my HONDA EU 2000i inverter generator was not sufficient to use with a KRANZLE

This whole van has been a LOT more work than expected. That mixed with the busy season...it's been tough to get the bugs worked out.

I have managed to do a test run, and everything worked fine. Aside from some minor things I'd like to do...it's ready to go. If this tune up fixes my starting problem...I will certainly be ready to start scheduling some mobile work.

I just want this next update to be THE update. The one that is the complete finished product. I wanted it stocked up, shelves in, equipment in, etc.

Here's a little teaser to hold you over for now...

I added my website on the drivers side as well. The van and the sign on my roof now match! The sign was another headache I had to deal with recently. That sign is 16' long. No joke to put up on that roof, ha.

I've also been looking at the ASTRO/SAFARI VAN as well trying to find an AWD so I can drive year round in the Philadelphia area, may just start with my gas pressure washer and a IBC tank filled to about a hundred gallons
