More cut with AiO or stronger polish?

Chicago Auto Pros did a youtube on what it REALLY takes to burn through clear coat and they were able to hit a hood with like 50+ cycles with cutting compound before they burned it

I watched the same video. That was 50+ cycles of 5 passes! So basically over 250 passes. When i do a 1 step i only do 3-4 passes and thats with a medium pad/polish. One reason why i don't get the fear mongering that seems to go around detailing sites. A medium polish and pad is very safe on OEM paint.

Yeah, I am with you there

I only get my knickers in a twist when I get to edges and peaks and valleys because we all KNOW (or do we?) that the paint is thinnest there and easily burned through

Again, we are fear mongering based on regurgitated "facts" about paint

After that Car Craft video about just 80 microns of paint on a new WRX I have been looking at PTGs

Just freaks me the hell out

Things are changing quickly the pro's all say. Maybe soon a medium polish and pad will be more unsafe. But my car is a 2016.

PTG's are pretty much necessary for professionals now it seems.

I watched a few of these edge burning videos to gain some courage. Of course, if you check one of the pictures I posted it is kind of visible, my hood has 4 contour lines running the length of the hood. I tried to use these as natural boundaries for some of my 2x2 zones to work within. Scared me some...the other areas (minus the doors) are pretty flat. I think I was probably fine given that I was using a minimal approach when it came to the abrasiveness of the products I had.

I did find a few articles online that suggest this new Genesis line has a harder paint and given the Euro brand people Hyundai Corp stole to design them, I'm hoping they didn't overlook that relative to their counterpart brands.
