Most durable wheel well dressing?

If you try the Sonus, please give us a review, I'd be interested to see how long it lasts as I get a lot of rain where I live and tire dressings and CG Barebones don't last.

I don't think I'm gonna go with Sonus. I want something that you can spray out of a spray gun to get thin, even coats. I bet Sonus is too thick.

I've come to like opti-bond 1:1 out of a spray bottle. But also like hyper dressing at 1:3 too. Durability seems to be about 2ish weeks depending on how much I drive the truck. Always see a solid week on my car but it's washed weekly too so it always stays fresh and dressed.

Mark,

try DIA+. Their ERV will last longer but very similar to DIA+ from a look standpoint. ERV is what I used on tires for years and I may go back to it. You can dilute ERV to get similar results to DIA.

How long do you want the dressing to last?

Kurt,

I'd like it to last a week(until my next wash), but I can't get that with hyper dressing(3:1). I'll definitely give DIA+ a shot, but if ERV will last longer, I may have to try that.

I hear ya, trying to use pump spray bottles for the wheel wells is just a pain. I'm running low on CG bare bones so I might pick up a gallon of Meg's ASD soon.

If I get it within the next few days I'll post a review and follow up with durability pics every couple of days.

CG Bare bones = greasy
Griot's UC = greasy
Adam's UC = greasy
Megs ASD = greasy

I wan't something water based that will last(if possible). I'm going to give One Grand ERV a shot. Plus, I can use ERV on exterior trim, tires, and plastic. I love their DIA+(for interior panels) thanks to Kurt! :dblthumb2: I hope the durabilty is better than hyper dressing(on wheel wells)!

I spray my Yukon with plastic wheel wells with M40, doesn't last the longest but it looks good for a week or so.....

Hey Mark,
I'll probably do a video "product review" about the Optimum gun tomrorow. I think after the review it may raise the sells of the item.

CG's Bare Bones is good stuff, smells like grapes too!

if u dont want silicone products. look into optimum dressings.

Jim, do you know if ASD has the same texture as Griot's UC/CG bare bones/Adam's UC dressings?
It is not greasy after it dries. I dont even wipe it. The sprayer waand lets me get into all the tight places. IMO it is better than Griots, I havent tried CG.

Do you use ASD on anything other than wheel wells?

I have been using Griot's Undercarriage Spray. I have been impressed by its durability. It sticks around longer, e.g., than Stoner's Trim Shine (which is by far easier to apply). After spraying into the well, I use an applicator sponge to spread it around. The one thing I do not like about the Griot's is the pungent smell, which sticks around for a couple of days.

Another possibility for you to consider: CD-2. It's sold as an engine bay dressing, but it also works well on wheel wells and like any aerosol spray is easy to apply. I don't know who sells it in California but here in Virginia AutoZone carries it.

Good durability?

I honestly cannot say about the durability. It's been two years since I used it on my wheel wells (I still use it on my engine bay) and I simply do not recall the durability I got back then. I didn't stop using it for any particular reason. I picked up the Griot's when it was on sale and now I'm committed to it until I run out. I can tell you that I get excellent durability from CD-2 in my engine bay. If you can find a can of the stuff at a local store, I'd definitely give it a try and see how it works for you.

I would think CD-2 would give great durablilty on wheels wells. I have heard a lot of good things about its durablity in engines so I would expect similar results in wheels wells.

Personally, I like ASD for tires and wheel wells. Spray 3 sprays in the wheel well, 1 or 2 sprays on the terry cloth applicator I use, and spread it around. Works like a charm! No pics.....sorry.

Hey Mark, I've actually had good luck with HD on my car in the wells at a weak 3:1. I consider it a small tradeoff in that any lack of durability is returned without having everything stick to it. Plus, with HD being water based, clean up is a breeze when necessary.

I also like using a cheap old can of Armour All (I'm new, is that a bad word around here?? LOL) foam tire cleaner/dressing stuff from time to time. It does really well. I use it solely on my lifted truck where you can see everything.
