:: Mother's LeatherTech ::

Just used this product this past weekend on our 06 Infiniti g35 with wheat leather.

Honestly I was less than Impressed.

Sad to say Because I had high hopes for this product.

Though the leather in my fiance's car is far dirtier that I keep my cars. Her's is the one we travel with the dogs in so naturally it gets a bit diry from time to time.

However after a thorough vacuum . MF wipe down w/ distilled water.. I proceeded to apply 3 pumps to my MF towel and gave a rub down with a good bit of elbow grease. Then dried and repeated the process.

Cleaned it some but for the price of this cleaner / conditioner combo I feel as though my money could have been better spent.

I proceeded to use the infusion and gel and as you stated no change there as far as looks.

I then used the same process ( but with only 2 pumps at a time )on my 13 subaru outback with brown leather on the rear seats.. ( have only been set on 2 or 3 times)

Cleaned / conditioned and couldn't see a bit of difference there as they were already clean.

But just wonder how well the infusion gel worked.

Bummed.. I really wanted to like this product.

I do wonder if It might work better with a leather brush??

I think for the real dirty leather I work on I will continue to use the Leatherique combo.
But I still want to find a better cleaner for quicker leather cleans as leatherique takes quite a bit of time.. some clients won't want to wait for that lengthy of a correction.

so I'm thinking either something from leather masters or possibly Ultima Interior shampoo. Feed back please

As for my car I think I'm going to give it another light distilled water MF wipedown and coat with CarPro Cquartz Fabric&Leather Coating 100 ml. :xyxthumbs:

*anyone have any experience with this?
Meguiars Gold Class Leather Sealer Treatment

As stated on my review, and on the product itself for heavier soiled leather, a brush might be required. If you want something done right, you gotta take your time and not rush it. You have to explain and make sure your customers understand that as well.

As far as no change in the leather when applying the Gel, thats a good thing IMO. Like I stated I liked how the gel didnt alter the natural look of my leather. I want to clean it, not make it "shiny". Just like really swirled up paint, dirty leather takes time and some elbow grease to clean. Im sure there is better cleaners out there for really soiled leather, but for being a consumer level product I think Mothers does a great job at cleaning. Like any product, might work for you but may not work as well for others because theres so many different variables. Sorry it didnt work out for you! :(

Yeah . Im going to give it 1 more shot with a brush. That's why I took this cleaner to our g35 with dirty leather before trying it out on my next clients car with leather.. I don't mind taking the time to do it right.. I did. Spent quite a bit of time cleaning the 2 front seats on the G.

I completely agree with you on this . " As far as no change in the leather when applying the Gel, thats a good thing IMO. Like I stated I liked how the gel didnt alter the natural look of my leather. I want to clean it, not make it "shiny".

I can't stand a glossy or shiny look on leather or the dash. Matte is the only look I prefer.

Don't get me wrong.. I enjoyed your review as per why I purchased this product. As well as I am a big fan of Mother's products

I just was disappointed with the results I got from this cleaner.

when Finished I had my fiance tell me her honest thoughts on the before and after.. and she replied.. It looks ok. It looks better but not real clean like you did on your bmw last summer.. ( did the full Leatherique 24 hour clean on it )

But as earlier stated .. Most clients don't have time for the 2 day cleaning I require for that clean.

I am glad it worked well for you.. your results looked great. and again I always enjoy your reviews :xyxthumbs:

will update after giving it another go with a good leather brush.

I'm thinking this one. Vinyl&Leather Scrub Brush

don't think the horse hair brush will be strong enough for dirty leather

Thoughts ??

Yeah defenitely get a brush designed for leather. I cant recommend you one because honestly I dont even have one. I also understand that time is money, and as far as this product is concerned, I wouldnt exactly recommend it for "professional" use in the sense that its not a product you can use with speed cleaning results. Maybe someone else can chime in and give you some alternatives as to something thats a bit stronger perhaps?

All in all, give it another shot. Work in small sections. When I did it, I applied the first pump of product and "massaged" it over the area, letting the product kind of soak if you will, then buffed off using moderate pressure with circular motions. Then my second pump I gave it a final wipe with higher speed circular motions and a bit more pressure. This is when my experience of working by hand kicks in LOL. For dirtier leather you will need to agitate the area regardless of what product you use. Let me know how the second try works for you, if anyone else has a product to offer him as an alternative feel free to chime in.

I have the Vinyl & Leather scrub brush. Works great and it will DEFINITELY speed things up! Far better for cleaning soiled leather compared to a MF towel.

Another home run of a review Aaron! Very well done.

I still havent made up my mind on what I want to do with the leather on my cars. This setup or Meguiar's new Leather Sealer.

I was going to originally try the new Meguiars leather sealer, however in the past Ive been less than impressed with their leather cleaners. It does come in a kit with both the cleaner & sealer, for alot cheaper. It also came with a really CHEAP MF towel, it wasnt even at least a supreme shine. I was not impressed, so I went with Mothers.

Well Mothers it is.

Great review!

I'm always on the look out for a good priced leather cleaner.

Any pictures of the foam coming out of the bottle or on your applicator?

I thought I did have one, hmmm apparently not. The foam has a thicker consistency than hair moose with a pleasant smell. The nice thing about the bottle is that it wont keep spewing out foam once you stop pressing the button, which is nice.

yesa mothers leather care is awesome. my seats were hard as a rock almost. seemed like i was knocking on wood when i was feeling the leather. But i use mothrs leather care 2 times and my leather softened up so much. Now i have the right feel for what leather is suposed to feel like. Nice and soft and natural clean look. am really happy with this product.

I was always curious about this product. I will have to pick some up at my local autozone.

One quick question.

Would this foaming type of cleaner be safe for perforated seats? My 07 G35 has perforations in the middle on both front and rear seats. The seats are heated.

I would imagine I would either use less or apply the foam via a brush or simply make sure to vacuum the excess foam before I would apply the sealer/conditioner.

Any help would be great. Thank you.

(Oh and I found the picture within this thread of the foam and of course the youtube videos also helped)

You apply the foaming cleaner to your applicator and not the surface.

I've had success on perforated seats by buffing with a plush microfiber after its use to remove any excess. I guess you could use a vacuum.

Thanks for the tip! Can't wait to try this cleaner/conditioner.

I've been using Auto Finesse Cleaner as well as their conditioner while the cleaner works great, the smell from both products aren't for me. A bit too chemically for me =D

I prefer something that either smells like leather or nothing at all.

Great review indeed on the product.
My question is I have a 2013 F150 FX4 with luxury package. Meaning leather heated and cooled seats with alcantara inserts in the center.
Anyone know if these are coated or natural (naked) leather?
The truck only has 6K miles on it but want to keep the leather conditioned and cleaned so it doesn't develop cracking like my wifes 2007 G35S.
I hate the way seats start cracking and wrinkling where the passenger slides in and our over time.
Thanks in advance for your input.
Danny

The King Ranch is the only noncoated Ford leather I can think of. You should be fine.
