Hey everyone,
I'm looking to get a tire and wheel cleaner at my local store. I do love BFs wheel cleaner but not making an order anytime soon. So this is my next best. Quick history on my vehicle, I have a 2013 Chevy Silverado with factory chrome wheels. Looking online there's a lot of confusion on my part on the products. Both have a chrome specific wheel cleaner but can I use that on my tires as well? Seeing a lot of warnings not to use all purpose on chrome too. A little advice would go a long way with me. Cheers boys!

Mothers Foaming wheel and tire is awesome for tires. Second only to tuff shine IME. Can't comment on chrome wheels since I dont have those, but it would seem that a chrome specific product would be best for those. It's not inconvenient to use separate products for wheels and tires. I do tires first by spraying on tire product to dry tires first, scrub, rinse off and blast loose brake dust off wheels, then use wheel cleaner and scrub wheels.

Mothers foaming is great. One of the best otc wheel/tire products.

I agree Mothers wheel cleaner is great I wish they sold it in larger quantities

Anything in life worth doing is worth over doing, moderation is for cowards

I like both the Mothers and Meguiars All Wheel and Tire Cleaner for tires.

They also both make really good wheel cleaners. Just not 100% sure if they are safe on your wheel finish.

Mothers foaming tire and wheel cleaner is what you are looking for, awesome Tire cleaner and it is safe for your chrome wheels.

available just about anywhere otc.

I agree with Mothers. When a local auto store has them on sale I tend to get a few bottles. I also used their chrome wheel cleaner and same awesome results. I also use APC+ diluted 4:1.

I bought the mothers foaming wheel and tire cleaner based on this thread. I just find that the spray bottle it comes in to not be adequate. I find myself dumping it into another bottle so I can actually spray it.

Interesting. I actually keep the bottles and put my APC+ solution at 4:1 in there for continued use as a wheel cleaner. A bottle lasts me at least 18 mos. before the sprayer goes south.

I'm curious - what aspect of the bottle isn't adequate for your needs?

I recently used the Mother's Foaming Wheel Cleaner and it worked pretty good. The bottle sprayed well and it really foamed up. It was used on wheels that were in pretty good shape, so I didn't see an advantage over my normal wash-bucket solution I use on the rest of the car. I did notice it made my tires much cleaner and set them up nicely for a protectant wipe down when I was done.

My only complaint: It took half a bottle to properly cover the wheels and tires on one car! I was expecting a bottle to last longer than that. Did I use too much?

Ive never tried the Mothers, I do like the Meguiars Chrome wheel cleaner on chrome wheels. Works great and the sprayer is good too.

When I use the Mothers Wheel and Tire Cleaner I spray but I also spread it with a tire brush rather than trying to coat the entire tire with the sprayer since you go through a lot of cleaner.

I now use Mothers Back to Black Tire Renew more often I like the application technique especially since I can usually clean the wheels with just soap and then come back at the end to do the tires.

Meg's dub is the best right now that you can by over the countrr

It seems like when I spray a tire the product foams up inside the bottle, and I can't do more than one tire at a time, I bought two bottles recently and they both did that. Oh and I did buy a bottle of your spray wax and it is amazing!

These are both good but they are only meant to clean the wheels. They do not clean tires. Meguiar's Hot Rims All Wheel & Tire Cleaner does both. It can be used on trully chrome wheels but as always be sure to follow the instructions.

Meguiars Hot Rims All Wheel & Tire Cleaner, cleaner for factory wheels

You can also buy in bulk by getting D143.

Meguiars Non-Acid Wheel and Tire Cleaner D-14301

the nice thing about the mothers bottles is you can re-use the sprayers on other 16 or 32 ounce bottles...
