In the world of mobile phone ownership you're looking at battleground where the newest and greatest wins the war.

You could have the highest newest GREATEST phone last week (Droid Bionic, iPhone 4S), only to be eclipsed a week later by the newest and greatest this week.

With that said Motorola is back with a punch that hasn't been seen since they originally released the OG Droid two years ago and resurrecting an old but familiar name. The Motorola Droid RAZR.

So what does this all mean? The Droid Bionic that got released about a week ago is already out of date...

And here I give a you bit more vanillia looking Samsung Google Galaxy Nexus Prime. The granddaddy of all Android phones that will ship with Google's Android Ice Cream Sandwich. What does that mean? Hardware-accelerated graphics and a higher level of performance to all Android handsets (that's still being supported).

Feels a bit underwhelming when you look at it compared to the Droid RAZR but if you want the BEST Android exp on the market look no where else.



So with that said I'm glade I held off my urge to upgrade and picking up a iPhone 4S for the Nexus Prime or the Droid RAZR. How about you?

ALSO just to let everyone know, none of this will matter next year as nVidia will be unleashing Kal-El at CES (quad-core mobile processor).
 
I like some things about both the Razr and the Nexus but the IPhone4S crushes them in graphics ( GPU ) performance.

Apple always seems to be one step ahead in that area and the trend continues. One reason is because of the exclusivity deals Apple gets, nobody else can use the GPU thats in the iPad2 and the iPhone4S.

There are some other GPUs that can give it a run for the money but they have not entered manufacturing yet so early-mid 2012 the Android phones may catch up in that area.

If only there was an android ICS phone with the Razr thinness, the Nexus 720p AMOLED display, and iPhone4S GPU performance!
 
I'm definitely going after the Nexus. I had been holding out for a WP7 phone because I use Zune and I was hoping to integrate that into my phone. However I don't want to leave Verizon and while I know they have a WP7 phone now, what I was holding out for was a new 4G LTE version to go with their new "Mango" release.

The two big things winning me over on Nexus instead of the RAZR are ICS with stock Google experience (vs. Blur from Moto), and the fact that it will/should be completely unlocked so I can hack it to my heart's content like my original Moto Droid :D
 
Zune is officially dead, but MS said they'll support it since ZUNE service is integrated into XBL.

And I have to agree about ICS winning me over the Droid RAZR. My OG Droid took forever getting any updates what so ever because it had to pass Moto's certification and VZW.
 
I've used the Galaxy S2 (dual core), and it is FAST. It multitasks easily without any sign of hiccups or delays. I look forward to the Nexus Prime, and the future quad-core phones. I wonder how their battery life will last?
 
I might get one once more reviews come out. I was going to get a bionic but this might make it in my pocket. I always liked my old Razor flip phone and its slim size.

Yeah, I rooted my Droid in Summer 2009 and have been running custom OS's and themes since. So no waiting for updates from Moto and VZW. I've been running Gingerbread (which the OG Droid will NEVER see in an official way) for months now.

As far as Zune, the hardware may be dead (though I just found a link that says that announcement may have been an error), but they are not getting rid of the software service because WP7 phones have a Zune player on them. If anything they've just done away with the separate hardware. That's fine by me since as I said I was hoping to integrate anyway since WP7 supports the software :)
 
Are you running Pete Alfonso Vanilla Gingerbread update for the droid?

Nope, running ChevyNo1's Simply Stunning version 5.5. Based off Gingerbread 2.3.5 source code and Cyanogen Mod. Pete does good stuff for sure, but I've always liked Chevy's stuff.
 
I'm using a Samsung Focus running WP7 Mango. I really like it because it works. It's cool to have all the neat stuff droid can do, but sometimes I just want my phone to be a phone and work without having to mess with it. One thing none of the current phones still don't do well is Outlook integration with multiple calendars, tasks, SharePoint, etc. Even Mango is a disappointment as far as Outlook integration. I'm not a fan of Blackberry, but they do it much better.
 
I really like this new RAZR! I am a big fan of Droid Phones, not iFone...

I got an HTC Trophy to get out of the Droid 2. I told myself 12 years ago that I'd never get another Motorola product. Well...last year I made the mistake of getting a Droid 2. I had so many problems with it....force closures, apps not responding, no responsive touch screen, and then the kicker was every night I would recieve 3 emails from December 31, 1969. No subject, no sender's address...nothing (see attached). I will never ever ever by a Motorola product for the rest of my life.

My HTC Trophy woks great. This new Mango update is pretty sweet. I have yet to dive into all the new features, but I can tell they definitely listened to the feedback. I was told that MS fired everyone that was on the old windows mobile team and hired all new people. They wanted a completely new look and feel to the mobile environment.

I plan on getting the iPhone 4s tomorrow and I will be heart broken if it doesn't live up to my expectations, because this HTC works great. Its a simple smart phone.
 
That's a very cool phone; I especially like the programmable rules/actions ... such as every morning when disconnected from the charger bring up my calendar for the day.

I will be interested to see more reviews when it comes out, however, there is not a chance that you will pry my 4S out of my hands; Siri has added a new level of usability and interaction that is unparalleled anywhere. I am happier with more usability vs more specs.
 
Going phone shopping this evening, ordering iPhone 4S. I could care less about all the tech specs to be honest with you. As long as I receive emails, texts, phone calls, can take nice pictures, access Tapatalk, and play Angry Birds, I'm good. :)

I'm with you on this one. I have never really been into apps...I got a Blackberry a few years ago to conduct business and to keep in communication with my friends as we are all in the music business. We are nothing big, just some local cats producing music for the love of it. I want the iPhone because of a few key features...Siri and facetime. If my HTC Trophy had it, I'd keep it.

This will be very important to me since I work out of town. I only get to see my wife on the weekends and soon that will change because I will be working weekends and will only see her at night a couple days a week.

All the phones listed are pretty cool, don't get me wrong. I'm glad we all have the ability to choose any phone we want, whatever fits our personality the best. In some countries you don't have this freedom or ability. :xyxthumbs:

If thats the case why spring for the 4S when the 4 or even the 3GS will do all that stuff and save you 100s of dollars?

Yep...I'm with you on this one...I live in VA and my fiance lives in MD. I go there on the weekends, so facetime is definitely one of the key features that has been a factor.

Quite simple really, we currently have the iPhone 3G that we purchased when released and have served us well for the most part. The 3GS is a little old and most of the current software is written for the 4/4S. The iPhone 4 had some issues that were resolved with the 4S, and the camera is better with the 4S than the 4, so after all that the iPhone 4S will be the best choice for now and the next few years. Had there been no major changes between the 4 and 4S such as between the 3G and 3GS, I probably would have gone for the iPhone 4. The price of the phone has no effect on my decision. :)

*Edit - I should correct myself by saying the only real tech spec that I care about is the camera. The rest of the stuff is great I'm sure and people use their phone in different ways and the processor, screen size, on board memory, etc. may suit them for their purpose. I'm not really a power user when it comes to phones.
