I'm starting to dabble a bit in part time detailing. Mostly production jobs, in fact, most people just want wax on the car and promptly go run it through an automatic car wash. At any rate I have purchased some detailing supplies and started working my own cars as well as my families cars. That being said I'm wondering what the absolute necessities are for detailing other peoples cars.

I have a PC 7424
Klasse AIO
Klasse sealant glaze
Wolfgang swirl remover
Wolfgang polish
Pinnacle carnuba wax
Cobra mircofiber washing mits
A bunch of microfiber towels
assorted pads for the PC
(I'm not as good as you guys with the products yet so I hope the above names make sense)

At this point I know I need to order some stuff to clean my pads + order more pads. I also need to get a nice AIO to do other peoples cars (profit). I'm not doing 3 stage jobs on anything except my bmw mcoupe at this point.

Anyway what are the must have tools, supplies, ect to do part time detailing well. I don't do anything half way so I want to get it right.

How about some Painter's tape and a Beach Towel

If you're mobile, and you want more customers, find a way to have a sign on location that has your name and phone number, like a sidewalk sandwich board. They are easy enough to build if you're hand with wood, nails, hinges and paint... or you can order them online...

I have painters tape. Beach towel?

Pop the hood open, place the beach towel across the windshield and tuck the long edge under the windshield wipers and then drape the rest into the engine compartment.

Make sure the beach towel will not bind in any way with the hinge and/or closing the hood and then carefully close the hood.

You have effectively just completely covered up the windshield wipers and any plastic cladding between the trailing edge of the hood and the glass on the windshield.

On most modern cars this area has a lot of black or gray flat plastic and if you get any kind of polish splatter onto this plastic or the wiper arms and blades, you'll have to wipe or detail these area later and that takes up precious time.

With a Beach Towel you can cover and protect these area i one fell swoop....

Beach Towels work for all cars because of their extra length. Some normal bath towels may work on some cars but I don't have time for "may work" so I pack a Beach Towel.

Quick and Easy...
That describes my favorite way to detail... anytime I can make a process quick and easy while maintaining maximum effectiveness I implement the process...

APC to clean wheels, wheel wells, tires, interior, and even paint! I reccomend optimum power clean. :xyxthumbs:

you need APC+ its very versatile and inexpensive

I have a shopping cart I'll have to add that item. I figure if I buy this stuff at the very least I'll have it for when I do my own car :xyxthumbs:

Daytona Wheel Brush ??

personally i dont like the daytona wheel brush for cleaning wheels...i do however like the EZ mini detail brush...if youre going to use it on any open face wheels or large openings like 5 spoke wheels that have any substantial grime on them then the bristles are just too soft to do anything with...they can get in between spokes well yes but so does the mini. i find it more effective and easier to use

with that being said it is not a bad product at all and is a good one to have its just very situation specific IMO they can be useful for getting into tight wheel wells also

I placed and order and I think I'm set. I'm getting addicted to having all this different stuff on hand. It's a bit expensive for just my car so I'll have to atleast do enough to pay for my stuff.

oops. i was gonna tell you to get a lug nut brush. i forgot one of these for the longest time, and when i finally got one, wow it made my life better.

i always thought the beach towel was for breaks. the things you learn here are priceless.Im the MAN

No worries I'll have to place another order before too long. I'm doing a black 350z this week. This guy has a bunch of cars (better car or more expensive you make the call) so I need to make a good impression.
