Mustang vs challenger

The term "Muscle Car" has always confused me so I may have used it incorrectly. Does it just mean large engine?

Not to confused with ponycars (Mustang, Camaro, Firebird, Challenger, Baracuda) or sports cars (Corvette).

I already have a Mustang,
I do like the look of the 2015 Challenger and I'm currently shopping for a Srt or Scat Pack to keep my GT 500 company. :xyxthumbs:

After seeing the 2015s...
I can say that my disinclination of ever:
touching, sitting inside, driving, or owning a Mustang has not waivered one iota. :D

Challenger R/T Scat Pack 392. With inexpensive front & rear strut braces added, and maybe sway bar upgrade, they handle comparably to the Mustangs, but with all the bennies the Ford can't deliver

Funny, my co worker and I were driving down the freeway today at lunch and she asked me if I have ever raced anybody in my car, I said "Mustangs always rev on me and egg me me on." 30 min later we were coming back from lunch on the freeway and a black Shelby Super Snake, looks like around a 2013 fly's up next to me and revs on me. Wasn't a bad looking car.

What do you drive

I watched jays garage. Jay Leno. The episode on the hellcat. Pretty cool. The more I see the challenger, I think that's what I would go for

Just my 2 cents. I have had a 2009 Challenger R/T Classic, 2011 Mustang GT Premium and Now own a 2013 Camaro 2SS.

R/T is a bit heavy, Mustang a closer fit for a big guy. Camaro has the room plus more horse power.

Again this is just a novice opinion !!

I had a 2003 anniversary edition Vette LOVE IT !!!!

Go on Auto-trader and to a search...That`s how I get in trouble. I traveled over 2 hrs to get my car because it had the color I wanted along with dual mode exhaust and Hurst Shifter :)

Nice!!!! I have a blower on my RT Classic with a few other things. It puts 508 to the ground.I

put front and rear strut braces on and the car has the Super track pack option. Thing handles

like a slot car and will turn on a dime with no rolling. No its not the fastest but you never have

the fastest.

"Compareably", physics are physics, LOL. The Challenger makes more power from its 6.4L (470 hp) than the 5.0L Stang's mill (435 hp) but the HEMI only makes 35 more horsepowers (thanks Jeremy, LOL) from its 1.4L advantage (my 1.4L makes almost 200 hp BTW) and that "slight" advantage isn't going to be made up by cheap or expensive sway bars or strut braces, "physics are physics".

Maybe the Scat Pak Challenger should take on the GT350 for 2016... G A M E O V E R :p

Btw, I love the use of "The Steel Curtain" and the 3 9 2 in the stars, very well done:thumbup:

Didn't even catch that. That is sweet!!

While I prefer the driving dynamics of the 2015 Mustang, the Challenger is also a tremendous value. We really live in a golden age of muscle cars. Think about it, the base engines have 300+hp and you have can reliable 500-650+hp that idles, runs, and drives with no issues. ( I remember starting to drive in the mid-1980s when the 200hp Mustang 5.0L was drool worthy).

My suggestion is to test them both and see which one will fit your driving style. I want one to occasionally autoX, so my focus is the Mustang (even then probably the v6 trackpack or the new 2.3l turbo). Top speed is not my concern rather I want a better balanced chassis.

Not that it is in my purchasing future, but the Hellcat Variants (Charger/Challenger) are comparably fantastic deals.

Anyone who wants something to AutoX would wanna look at the Fiesta ST and if on a tight budget, the 1.0L Ecoboost Fiesta would also work, just sayin'. Although the Mustang is the most sfelt of the 3, its not really an AutoX car.

.....now back to our regularly sceduled muscle talk;)

What is autox

Autocross is a form of motorsports that emphasizes safe competition and active participation. An autocross is a timed competition in which drivers navigate one at a time through a defined course on either a sealed or an unsealed surface. Autocross differs from road racing and oval racing in that generally there is only one car on the track, racing against the clock rather than other cars. As an entry-level motorsport it provides a stepping stone for drivers looking to move into other more competitive and possibly expensive forms of racing (such as rallying and circuit racing).

Autocross courses are typically one to two kilometres long and tend to place demands on car handling and driver skill rather than on engine power and outright speed. Courses may be temporary and marked by traffic cones or be permanent tracks with approval by a motorsport body.
