Guys,

It was time to replace my 2001 VW Passat with a new(er) car. As AG members, you guys/gals can relate to certain criteria as important in a car selection. For me it was not just about the car itself (engine, trans, overall driving feel etc.) but also the color combination. My 2001 VW is slate blue with grey interior, and I always liked a dark exterior with light interior, but no black exterior. So I came across this wonder blue interior/tan interior A4 within my budget and decided to get it. So like any AG member, it was not in the condition we keep our cars in and was itching to get home with her for a "Spa Weekend with Scotty". The details:

- Washed twice (Mckee's Foaming wash)
- Chemical decontamination (McKee's Iron Remover)
- Mechanical decontamination (McGuire's Clay Bar)
- Compound (Griot's Fast Correcting Cream) w/ BOSS MF pad
- Polish (Griot's Correcting Cream) w/ LC Orange ThinPro
- Fine Polish (Griot's BOSS Sealant) w/ yellow BOSS pad
- Sealant (Blackfire) applied by hand
- Wax (Blackfire Ivory Sun) by hand
- Wheels (IronX and Griot's Liquid Wax)
- Tires (McKee's 37 tire cleaner and Griot's Long Lasting Tire Shine)
- Interior (DP cleaner/protectant)

All in was approx. 14 hours of work and very happy with how it came out. Looking forward to driving her. If you look at the pic of the rear of the car, you can see my wife's white A4 reflecting in the rear trunk lid almost as if it's painted on. Pretty cool (unintended) reflection.

P.S. I loved my VW but after 17 years I thought it was time to give her a rest. :-).

Love those A4's.

Congrats on the new ride, now that it looks good time to hit up APR or MTM for some shove ==========

Congrats on the new car! It came out very nicely! Well done!

German love is strong here. Congrats! Love the blue. Nicely done work. No go enjoy getting her dirty.

REALLY NICE!! Will have to try the Griot's tire shine. Congrats on the new car!

I think you'll enjoy the Griot's Long Last tire shine. I never let my cars go more than a week w/o a wash, but some weeks I opt to skip the tires because they maintain their look well beyond that period, and I figure why wash off good product only to apply more. It's good stuff for sure.

How did you find Audi paint to be....too hard?

Actually not as bad as some other paints (e.g. GM black is HARD). The combination of MF pad and GG Fast Correct Crème made light work of the defects, and fine tuned with foam pads and other crèmes/polishes. I would give it a hardness rating of say 8 out of 10 - with 10 being GM-black rock hard and 1 being Subaru soft-as-butter.
