My 2019 Jetta GLI 35th Edition

The problem is often the availability of 93 gas. It's pretty easy to find in the eastern US, but you head west of the Mississippi and it's almost impossible to find. I've found 93 disappears somewhere around central Missouri when heading down I-44. I havent been in Kansas City in a while, but I'm pretty sure it isn't available there either.

If I was to tune my current car, I'd probably go with a 91 octane tune in order to get appropriate gas anywhere I go, whether it's 91 or 93 neither wouldbe a problem.

Fun fact: The owner's manual pin my car specifically calls out 93 octane gas for peak horsepowerv and states anything 91 and lower will take a hit in output. Owners across the country get a little miffed because nearly 2/3 of the US doesn't have access to it. No one really knows how much of a hit you take when running 91, and at higher altitudes 91 supposedly operates like 93, so it may be all a bunch of nothing.

True enough but at the end of the day, the price difference between 87 and 93 isn't really THAT much money

About $1 per gallon around here usually +/- $0.05. Shell is usually on the higher end by a few cents but worth it still. Even that the significantly faster rate at which I'm going through fuel these days...lol.

My car says 91 on the inside of the fuel filler door, 87 if that is all that is available. Never put 87 in any of my VWs before so can't speak to power loss but I'm sure I'd notice. Around here 87, 89, and 93 are the most common. The new 15% Ethonol E88 is getting more common. Sunoco here has 87, 89, 91, 94 usually and sometimes even 104. APR has a 104 tune, there are a few Sunocos around me. I considered it.

Nice! Never was a fan of mismatched colored panels, I always said if my car ever saw a spray booth the roof and mirror caps would get the pure grey treatment. But to each his own that why I love the car scene

APR just dropped their new bolt-on turbo for 2018+ 3.0TFSI engine. Impressive numbers, as usual. Anyone with a 3.0TFSI Audi could make quite the sleeper. Stock downpipe sleeper mode like me.

Yeah it's a CF hood, most people leave it exposed to show they've got one. I like when people paint parts of them and leave say the vented parts exposed

Although not a Bears fan, Shell has a .25 cent discount on gas on Bears game day

So, went to pass a truck at like 65-70mph yesterday. It was actively raining so roads were slick, but something happened that never happened to me in a VW before. Wheel hop at freeway speeds...sounds horrible, always hated that. I would expect it at the bottom of a ramp or maybe under load at lower speeds and I hit a bump tya4 upsets the tire and starts the hoping. Not this time. This is freshly paved 77 Southbound, no bumps, smooth as glass, just torque and wet surface. Lol.

I need motor mounts. I could get my stock GTI to wheel hop at lower speeds which is why, though stock, it had 65 durameter bushings. Wheel hop was cured so thinking of going same route here, both upper mounts. Changing the subframe bushing, while cheaper and easier, adds WAY too much interior noise and vibration. When my GTI had the revo bushing installed down there I could hear my timing chain assembly on a cold winter start-up lol

Thanks! I shall. I had 034 Motorsport on the GTI. On sale both ran me like $220 couldn't complain.

I paid about $115 for the 3 main ones I needed, dogbone, trans insert and motor mount, all 3 the perf version. There's street, perf and race and I felt that was best.

Added +5hp today with the new APR license plate frame. Mounted hastily before work with left over screws I had. I permanently borrowed some stainless fasteners from work and will mount it with those. I'll send pics of the final result.

I should mention too that I decided to go all car enthusiast with my new plates too, gonna retire SUB COD after three years. I'm sure someone at the boat who was jealous will jump on it when they notice I don't have it anymore, and many were jealous.

So far I have come up with:

OEM PLUS
SLPR GLI
SLPR MK7
IS38 GLI
GLI IS38
APR VROM
APR STG3

That is the order if desirability, may be subject to availability hence having backups ha. Open to suggestions

OEM PLUS is unavailable, unfortunately.

I think I've landed at SLPR GLI, it is available.

Done! I didn't install the caps for the screws, as they are very tight and hard not to damage when removing so I will pop those on after I get my new plates and 2 year tags. About that time.... View attachment 77015
