I'd rather not clay(marr) it as the paint doesn't feel gritty. My friend Jim is sending me a special clay that shouldn't marr the paint. I'll try it next time around. Should I IronX the paint? I'm thinking Pinnacle Paint Cleaner with a finishing pad, then wax. I do not feel the need to polish at this point because there's no swirls. How would you go about it?

Yea! You should definitely try ironX or trix before a paint cleaner for a cleaner paint!
Though I agree with Setec!
Maybe claying, ironX soak, powerwash and maybe a 2nd wash with opc, eraser, OC2.0 for best protection!

I'm not quite into the coatings. I do not like having to polish to remove. So, P21S/OPC, then wax? Would a chemical paint cleaner be of any value?

You owe it to yourself (and your ride) to give OC/OG a try. They are not as scary as the word "permanent" may imply.

With that said, do a test spot with a chemical paint cleaner. Look at your pad, if it's dirty, do the whole thing.... If not, you don't need it

There's probably rail dust still on the car, so IronX isn't such a bad idea.

Wash, Clay, & Blackfire or Optimum AIO

Mark if it does not need to be clayed then I would agree with you on skipping that step especially if you do not want to polish.

So I would wash with a stripping soap or OPC to remove any protection that may be on the paint and use Iron X to remove any imbedded iron.
Then use a nice paint cleaner like Pinnacle, P21s or Blackfire GEP.
Use your LSP of choice and you should be good to go for a while :xyxthumbs:

No reason to make it more complicated or involved than necessary as you certainly have the skills to properly evaluate the finish!

Why not try CQuartz? Very, very durable that goes on like a standard wax/sealant and is layerable.

I'd use Iron X, very mild clay, CarPro Eraser and then CQuartz.

If you want to go standard route, I'd use Iron X, mild clay, paint cleaner such as Pinnacle or Blackfire GEP and then wax/sealant of your choice.

What you need to do is post some pictures.

Am I right, or am I right?

1. P085RD
2. BFWD
3. BFMS
Then proceed to add a CAI with custom Bama Tune, Koni Yellow's, and Steeda Sport Springs.:xyxthumbs:

If you want to keep it swirl free I'd say go with Opticoat. The paint on those cars is too soft.

Thanks guys. I'm gonna go with: wash with CG citrus wash, IronX, possibly a paint cleaner, then LSP(not sure which one yet). I'll post pics when finished! :D

I love Opti Coat, my DD has it on all surfaces. But that's kind of a special car, I surely would want to tinker with different waxes on it. It the finish is mar free, why mess with it with any mechanical cleaners or abrasives, as long as it passes the baggy test?

If it was me, I would wash it with CG Citrus Wash and Gloss 1 ounce per gallon (or similar) to just give it a strong wash. Then I would apply with a sealant, than wax of your choice. I wouldn't go into paint cleansing, etc... If the finish tests clean with a baggy. You'll have plenty of time to polish, clay, and paint clean later. Sometimes a new car finish is clean and doesn't need to be messed with. IMHO high Carnuba waxes look best on silver, I used to use P21S on my old silver BMW and really liked the look

then LSP(not sure which one yet). I'll post pics when finished! :D

If you are not going to coat your pony I would ABSOLUTELY use a sealant on silver.

Do you have any Duragloss, Zaino or Werkstat sealants? If so, I have found that those products give silver a really nice bling
