My brand new 5.0 has no swirls, what should I do?

I love Opti Coat, my DD has it on all surfaces. But that's kind of a special car, I surely would want to tinker with different waxes on it. It the finish is mar free, why mess with it with any mechanical cleaners or abrasives, as long as it passes the baggy test?

If it was me, I would wash it with CG Citrus Wash and Gloss 1 ounce per gallon (or similar) to just give it a strong wash. Then I would apply with a sealant, than wax of your choice. I wouldn't go into paint cleansing, etc... If the finish tests clean with a baggy. You'll have plenty of time to polish, clay, and paint clean later. Sometimes a new car finish is clean and doesn't need to be messed with. IMHO high Carnuba waxes look best on silver, I used to use P21S on my old silver BMW and really liked the look

I agree with this post. My 2010 Mustang GT came to me in perfect condition and it passed the baggy test, sunlight test and Brinkman Light test so all I did was wash it and wax it.

Good points. No need to put a DA to the paint, even using a chemical paint cleaner and a finishing pad(no cut), if I don't need to. I've decided to use IronX, though. Then apply an LSP. :dblthumb2:

Just make sure you post plenty of pics. I don't like many American cars, but the new Mustangs are the exception. They look like a great car to showcase your skills. There really nice.

Thank you, sir. :dblthumb2:

Wonder how long that will last.:poke:

Mark,

You have a gorgeous new Mustang and there's no need to rush into anything...If you're satisfied that the finish is ready for protection then I'd recommend the follow steps.

  1. Give your new car a thorough washing and really evaluate the paint. Only you can tell if claying is warranted or simply clean then the finish making it ready for sealing.
  2. I would use something like CarPro Eraser to ensure the finish is perfectly clean.
  3. A mixture of Duragloss 601/105 is an ideal product that will give you a gorgeous glossy shine.
  4. If you don't want to mix them then apply Duragloss 601, let it haze, then apply Duragloss 105...
  5. Buff to a gorgeous gloss!! :props:
Post some photos when you're ready buddy! :props:

Faster curing will be the only noticeable difference, though it should lay down a thicker layer of coating. Less solvents than the 2.0. ;)

What I do for new cars straight from dealer:

1. Clay with ONR lube (if necess)
2. Blackfire Total polish and seal on an orbital with green CCS pad- this leaves almost no haze
3. Remove with BF poly spray
4. Blackfire crystal seal or BF Wet Diamond
5. Blackfire spray wax or poly spray

Done , BF spreads so easily it's a treat to work with.
