cutting compound and wool pad no more than 1200rpm. depends on aggressiveness of compound. like i said before we all had to learn somehow. i was taught on a rotary and was told to crank up the speed on it too. but after using it i found alot less possibilties for problems to arise if used at no more than 1500rpm's. i had one guy working for me that wanted to get cars done A.S.A.P. and actually did go upto the 3000rpm's. when i heard it rev up i throw a bottle of wax at him to get his attention then fired him.
wax/polish= people think they are same thing. as we ll know they are not. i have even gone to dealerships with friends and family when they buy cars to make sure the car is in good shape and the detail is done right. i have asked if the car is gonna get polished and was told yes. then when i asked if they were gonna wax it the guy cleaning the cars said i alrady told you yes. i had to explain to him the difference between wax and polish. supposely he had been working there for 5 years and did not know the difference. so i was just making sure you were aware of the difference.
PC= you cant hurry perfection. yes the PC takes alot longer but is alot safer. and unless you have major correction to do a PC will work fine.
