Ok Guys, I have my first Ferrari to detail on Monday. The customer had another detailer he was not happy with and wants me to take over the maintenance of his 4 vehicles including the Ferrari.

All four will be getting my Basic Service only:

Hand Wash
Vacuum
Exterior Windows Cleaned
Door Jams Wiped
Wheels Cleaned and Tires Dressed

What do I need to know about the Ferrari specifically?

Any tips or hints are greatly appreciated.

If your not doing any paint correction then you have nothing to worry about. Just take your time and do your best work.

Theres really not much to it. Washes and cleans like any other car

Ferrari care probably varies based on the age/model (is it a 2014 or a 1984) - tell us more!

Congrats

I remember the feeling before I did my first (and so far only) one.

I would say watch out for carbon ceramic brakes, if it has. In the write up I did http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/show-n-shine/72923-ferrari-458-italia-detailed-lawrence.html you will see I covered the discs in plastic before washing / decontaminating the wheels.

If you are not correcting the paint then you shouldn't need to worry about potential sand-throughs from the factory.

Other than that it should be 'normal' but like I said, I have only done one, so far.

Goodluck and make sure to post up some pics.

Go slow and be thorough. Over time, you will be able to make your methods very efficient and easy

thanks all for the tips.

Lawrence....great write up and info on the ceramic breaks.

just take your time with it, just like Evan said since there is no correction involved it should not be to bad. just make sure its your best work. i have worked on a few of them and all those curves and vents take time

Why are you only cleaning the exterior of the windows? Unless the customer says he doesn't want the inside done I'd clean them. It only takes a few min.

The only time I don't do the interior windows is if the customer has locked the car and is only having me do exterior work.

Ok Brandon...for you I will clean the inside of the windows also.

I do both inside and out of the windows since they are transparent. What good would a clean outside window do with a dirty inside?

Here's what you need to know about detailing Ferraris...

Ferraris have paint.
Toyotas have paint.
Wax on, wax off.
It is the spice that binds us.

Do Hondas have paint?

I don't know about the 458 but I know the 09 430 I do washes on had crazy soft paint so be careful of marring or micromarring. But as others have said, just wash it using the proper techniques and wash media and you'll be fine.
