Left my Flex in the driveway for maybe 5 mins at best while checking on my dogs inside, only to come outside and find some indigent scumbag stole it! To the person in Wellington that took it, I would have gladly lent it to you if you were somewhat of a human being and just asked, instead you decided to steal it. Really hoping we meet while your using it so I can express my gratitiude in person.
Porsche you mean literally write your DL # on your tools?
"You can help create your own luck, you can make things happen through hard work and intelligence."- Donald J. Trump
Yep. Engrave it on there. Add some other distinquishing marks if you can also. People used to use their social security numbers years ago until indentity theft reared its ugly head. I work a lot of cases where we find tools that we know are stolen but there is no way to identify where it came from. How many of us write down serial numbers for all of the tools that we have? I dont and I know better. Besides, many tools, guns, etc have the same serial numbers spanning different manufacturers. With our DL # on there, it is a ton easier to track down. I can run DL #'s from my car laptop and instantly know who it is.
Also, once a year, walk through your house and videotape everything. It really doesnt matter if you have the serial numbers documented. As long as the insurance company can see what you have you are good to go. Those of us that live in hurricane territory should do this! I learned the hard way when my house went by by in Andrew.

A good lesson learned though is...engrave all of your tools. DO NOT use your social security number. Use your driver license number.
I have a 4 camera DVR setup around my house for constant monitoring and believe me, 500GB will fill up very quickly!!
I too started with 500GB but it only used to hold about 2-3 days of recordings! (depending on the camera quality and number of cameras)
HD cameras are really worth it and you can easily see the face of the culprit.
I've now upgraded to 1TB WD green and now it easily holds like 5-6 days of data!
Currently I'm looking at 2TB!
(also, be careful about the hdd cooling. As the DVR box is generally tiny, the hdd cant be cooled enough! I lost the HDD that came with it due to heat problems. Now I run a proper heatsink and dedicated fan for the HDD!)
Now a lot of ppl know about the cameras and don't do anything funny, especially when around my house and car!
Earlier when I had gotten it installed and ppl didn't know about it, I caught a lot of ppl just coming unusually close to the cars for no reason!
Having video proof of everything is the strongest evidence ever!! :xyxthumbs:
