My new Cyan pads are done...

I just received my Cyan pads , after only doing two cars they are toast.
The Velcro separated from the foam pad making them unusable :(

Thing is I didn't over work them, used very little pressure with my 3401
I washed them by hand and allowed them to dry but still shot.
The pads aren't cheap, I thought they'd last like my CG's Hex pads but didn't.
Disappointed !

It's sad because I found them to cut and finish down very well.
Maybe I hit a bad batch?
Anyone ever had this problem using the Cyan pads?

Luckily I didn't order a bunch of them,I wanted to see if I'd like them,well.....l
 
You're talking about Lake Country Hydro-Tech? That's certainly been a complaint that I've heard, I only have a few and don't use them that often so I haven't had that problem and I'm not even sure I've used the Cyan.

Yes, the Lake Country.
Blue Cyan pads.
 
I don't recall there being any changes to the Hydro-Tech pads. I really love the Tangerine.
 
Hey Kevin. Which size were you using the low pro or the original thicker pads?
 
We did do some upgrades in the later part of last year.

It sounds like you may have gotten defective product.

I had some apparent issues, and David here resolved the matter and sent me a few new pads. These new ones he sent looked the same to me with white Velcro backing, but not sure how they'll perform yet, haven't yet tried them. Perhaps the bonding process was changed, mine that went funny were definitely the older ones.

Some of what I noted may have been some "newbie user error" as well.

David made some suggestions, and I think I'll try being a bit more careful with not over-working these smaller 4" pads I have, and as well pay a bit better attention to not over-loading the pads with excessive product.

I'll save these for working smaller areas, Pillars, Bumpers and such, and not the larger panels.

As Mike P has often wisely suggested, in a perfect world, one pad, one panel, etc etc.

Ive had problems with these myself and have given up on them. went through 3 of them. mine were the 3in pads though.

Was the issue with the thin or thick pads? Been using a Cyan thick pad a lot (and love it!) and haven't noticed any issues. Bought mine in December.
 
I melted two UBER green pads with my GG6, on high speed...now I don't go over 4-5, NEVER use 6
 
I wonder if the closed cell structure that does so well at keeping product on the surface and not in the pad also keeps the adhesive on the hook and loop from penetrating and bonding?
 
I contacted lake country because my purple foamed wool pads delaminated from the velcro. David helped me get new pads to replace the faulty ones and I'm happy with the customer service :)

I was thinking maybe the pad couldn't handle the Flex but with you also having trouble with them using the GG6 than it's gotta be an issue they had with the older version.
Was really wanting to use them this weekend , oh well I have more LC and CG pads:D
 
I am a little perplexed...I use the hydrotechs (3" and 4") and have not experienced any negative issues. In fact, I recently purchased more for my Flex PE-8 Kompakt 3" rotary. I use the 3" and 4" hydro-tech pads with them as well as my PC7424 XP.

I am just wondering is it the technique? I know I use about 5LBS to no more than 12LBS MAX of pressure.

I tested my pressure with a weight scale when I was learning and have a pretty good feel for when I am applying "too much" pressure.

I am just wondering if that is the case. The pads are well made and for you to lose the back part I am just wondering if there might be too much pressure.

I am at a loss and sorry to hear that. I use only LC Pads (Hydro-techs, Hybrids and CCS) as I have had bad experiences with the Hex Logics and GG Pads.

Once and if you do figure it out please let us know so we can learn from this. That way whatever brand pads we use we can be aware of it.
