My New DD 2016 Audi S4!!!

Awesome. I DD a 2015 S4 (6 speed) in Ibis White. Can't say enough good things about the car.

With all of these mods....where's the Pulley and Tune?!?!?

Give Tony at EPL a call stat!

Car just ticked over 6,000 miles. I'd like to get at least 10-15k on the car before it gets chipped to avoid TD1 flag. I don't want to deal with the TD1 flag if there happens to have somehow been a quality defect from the factory.

Spring updates are just around the corner

Big thanks to MOPS @ SupremePowerParts for being a fantastic supplier.

Deval Carbon Fiber Rear Diffuser, ordered!

Thanks to ECS for hooking me up with their Carbon Fiber mirror caps, also ordered!

Also ordered a Piano Black cluster surround out of an RS4/RS5 to replace the ugly silver plastic one that is the only piece available on US Spec S4s. Not cheap for such a small change, but the silver was driving me nuts....

It replaces this piece. Which, as I said, drives me nuts

Also a big thanks to USP. Ordered up their gloss black RS4 grille.

Car is going into the body-shop in the next 2 weeks to have the bumper covers refinished. They will also be reapplying the Xpel film on the front bumper cover and hood that were never applied to my level of satisfaction.

First week of April, I'll clean up and install summer wheels and tires and then I think I'm done for awhile.... Again (yeah right).

Stay tuned!

Have them spray the crash-bar behind the grill with black bed liner spray while they have the bumper off. The one shown above has been sprayed already. It's aluminum from the factory and shines through so you'll definitely want to get it done.

Here's mine:

Now you just have to add the power mods to the mix. Completely different car.

Just read this whole thread, car looks great. If I could part with my Terminator it would be for an S4. Had the pleasure of detailing an S5 a few months back and got to drive it.

Nice car! My DD is a 2013 Ibis White S4 w/DSG.

I'm currently running the EPL Stage 1, EPL DSG tune and the ECS Intake. I have ordered the EPL Stage 2, just waiting to get it installed.

I would never even think about replacing factory trim. Until I saw your photos. Much improved. Cool Audis. I would love to drive any Audi with 350-500 hp and Quattro.

I have always liked the styling, never over done or gaudy. Looking back to the 80's when so many cars looked plain ugly, Audi had nice looking designs.

Update. Time to start getting the car ready for spring. Overall, not a really bad or intensive weather-winter (which is good). However, the car is still dirty.

I'm getting the itch to slap the summer wheels on. However, what I've learned in the past few years is that it's best to wait until after Easter weekend.

Car goes into the bodyshop next week to have the front and rear bumpers re-finished (I got tapped over the winter), the front Xpel application will be re-done, and they will also be adding a layer of Xpel to the top of the rear bumper (to prevent damage/scuffs from groceries, luggage, golf bags, etc.)

Now that it's warming up (about 40F daily), I've had a chance to actually get the car looking somewhat presentable (so there will be lots of pictures in this thread). However, once it gets up into the 60s, I'll do a complete detail on the car inside and out.

Spring updates... Part I:

All of the goodies together

What we are starting with: just rolled through a pay and ride, winter mats still in (and dirty), dirty/trashed carpets (by my standards), and definitely needs some love in a few weeks (which it will definitely get due to mystery box and a few other things).

6_zpsvzz8lhrt.jpg

Still running stock Ti grille, stock Ti wheels (on snows), tons of suspension, Ecodes, etc. etc.

Onto the work...

Was going to try and wrap the crashbar. Once I was into the process, I realized I sucked at it. I trashed the wrap idea, and went to bedliner spray. Pulled the car into the garage and coated the whole crashbar (like 8 coats)

For some reason, my photos are not posting in the correct orientation, even though they look correct in the hoster... Oh well.

Next up, ECS carbon fiber mirror covers

DO NOT ATTEMPT this job unless you have a trim removal set... Also, I found some issues with the ECS covers and some differences in the bores between the stock B8.5 housings and the aftermarket housings. I had to modify them to get them to fit. But, as I was in process, I didn't snap any pictures.

Again, DO NOT ATTEMPT unless you have a nylon/plastic trim removal kit, or YOU WILL HATE YOUR LIFE. I have the Schwaben kit, it's awesome

Lastly, the OEM Piano Black cluster/MMI surround trim.

For this install, be sure you have a nylon/plastic trim removal kit or YOU WILL HATE YOUR LIFE...

Again with the Schwaben... Such a GREAT tool kit. Every DIYer should have this...

18_zpstszozp3h.jpg

Stock surround with the silver plastic. It has been driving me nuts since day one of ownership. It literally matches NOTHING in the interior or anything in the rest of the car. Not sure why Audi NA made this decision (especially with those who opted for Carbon Atlas Inlays). But, I digress...Yes, my carpets look like a dumpster fire...Winter in the midwest...it sucks..

Side by side comparo

After the install... I'm extremely happy. The interior literally looks like the inside of Darth Vader's helmet at night...

And the final shots of the exterior... More in the next few weeks. Thanks for viewing!!!

As it turns out, I worked the following deal:

-Xpel installation shop will re-apply Xpel Ultimate to the full front-bumper.

-Since I'll be bringing in a naked bumper which saves them on the labor, they will also be throwing in fresh Xpel covers for my new CF mirrors (installed), and covering the top (under the trunk-opening) of my freshly refinished rear bumper to protect from golf-bag/luggage/keg removal...

Thanks to MOPS@SupremePowerParts, my Deval CF diffuser is currently tracking via UPS, and should be here sometime next week. I'm removing the bumper-covers myself, and taking them to a local VW/Audi certified shop. Should be complete in the next 10 days (I'll post pictures of the work).

NEW DEVELOPMENTS:
-Worked with Sean@Tag, Kevin@Lichty Auto, Alex@GIAC, and AWE to strike up tuning options. Big thanks to all involved! I've been EXTREMELY impressed by all, especially TAG, they're johnny on the spot with everything, and keep their cool when I call them/email them dozens of times a day.
-STGII GIAC V2 Software, STGII AWE-Supercharger Pulley, AWE STGII Supercharger Belt, and AWE Supercharger pulley removal tool
-Local GIAC tuner will be Kevin Lichty at Lichty Auto in Waterloo - (319) 296-2994

STAY TUNED!!!

Updates:
Got the summer wheels/tires out and cleaned them up to get them ready for clay/top coat:

IMG_5205_zps972vsb8p.jpg

Had the Xpel removed from the front-end in preparation for the front-bumper re-finish. Began pulling apart the front (I'll also be going AWE pulley while it's apart)

IMG_5215_zpsix8dcoys.jpg

Front bumper all stipped down and ready to go to paint. All grilles (4) have been removed. Body shop requested me to "turn it in" with the washer and toe-hook covers intact.

IMG_5218_zpspcefkkvs.jpg

Rear bumper removed and stripped down. Air-bag sensors were left in since they do not need to be removed for paint (mask). I did remove the park assist sensors and the rear valence. New Carbon Fiber Deval valence should be arriving sometime mid-next week (hopefully, the UPS tracking is responding funny).

IMG_5220_zpspvgtzn4g.jpg

Cleaned up my exhaust a bit with mothers polish and some light steel wool. Good lord they were BLACK...wonder if that has anything to do with the emissions scandal? Also, I'd really like to thank Audi for painting the rear crashbar black, but never painting the front.... (sarcasm)

IMG_5221_zpsmttweh9m.jpg

The tips are etched... I may need to order new ones... Oh well, another day another dollar.
IMG_5222_zpsuzbork9j.jpg

Anyways, later this week, I'll be claying and coating my wheels (either glanz-wax, XMT 180, or Cquartz, not sure yet), removing the stock pulley, waiting for bumpers to get back from paint, and generally moving this thing forward.

STAY TUNED!!!

Great thread. I just read through it all. After selling my BMW 335 this past Fall I just picked up a 2013 Audi S4 in Monsoon grey with all the goodies and only 19k miles! I'm looking at those same wheels and exhaust for mine.

Keep it up!

Contacted AWE to see if I could warranty out my tips with the failing coating. I'm confident that they will take care of everything.

More spring cleaning stuff showed up:

TONS of Optimum ID/Gloss Enhancer for maintenance washes. Also a hand pump and a bunch of mixer bottles

IMG_5247_zps8dy6covw.jpg

Included in my $100 mystery box from Autogeek was a tub of McKee's 37 Wheel Glaze. Figured I would clay down my wheels to remove any remaining toxins/debris, then give the new coating a shot. It looks nice, we'll see how it holds up. Smells good, too (like grapes).

IMG_5248_zpsv9tginwh.jpg

Inner barrel cleaned, sprayed down with Iron-X, clayed, and coated with the McKee's 37. You can really see the "hand-brushed clearcoat" in this picture. It's really an amazing finish in person (Bespoke III Brushed Grigio)

IMG_5249_zpsqjywufos.jpg

And the outside of the wheel

IMG_5251_zpsh8v8jtpn.jpg

My Deval Carbon Fiber rear diffuser also showed up. Big thanks to Mops @ SupremePowerParts. If you need anything, get ahold of him, great guy to deal with! Fast shipping, too!

Now I'm just waiting on bumpers to finish up. Maybe Thursday? Looks like my AWE pulley, GIAC program switcher, smaller supercharger belt, and pulley-removal tool should be arriving late Thursday. Should turn out to be a great weekend!

STAY TUNED!!!
