They did a pretty nice job cleaning her up for me. engine is SHINING!!!!

Traded in the Taurus X. Funny thing is, is that i got more on trade, than i originally purchased it for, hahahahaha... now i have barely any payment for a very short time.
Its a 98 Chevy Silverado 1500 2WD (dont NEED 4x4) ext cab short bed. Its got the 5.0 305 and only got 70K on her!!! yah its only the 305, but better gas mileage, and i wasnt going for the most power. It is in VERY good shape!!! VERY small spot of rust under each door, but it will be gone hopefully before winter, and have the under side sprayed with the heated oil mix by a place here in fremont whos been doing it for MANY MANY years and i know A LOT of friends and my family who has had it done to there trucks and cars! i got this thing for a steal!!!!
it has signs of the intake gaskets starting to go, unfortunately for the 11 years it was owned by the guy, it had that god damn DEX-Cool in it the entire time. he never got that CRAP flushed. So i will have that done before winter, flushed and new gaskets.
here she is!!!

I checked it out and the paint is in EXCELLENT condition for the year!!! Swirl marks are not bad at all and are light. Tailgate has a few scratches, and the small amount of rust on the bottom of the doors, which you have to bend down and look under to see.

I cant wait til spring and polsh this thing up!!!!!!

looks great! those trucks seem to hold up well. I know people that own that model and they work 'em hard. Polish up those headlight lenses.

OHHHHH YAH. the lights SUCK. Im sanding/polishing those and getting new bulbs. 10ft from my white garage door and they barely lit it up. The turn signals were brighter than the headlights.

Nice find!

Dex cool wasn't kind to those years. Our '00 Yukon with 5.3 uses it though and that's what I used to replace it and no problems so far with 145,000+ on the clock!

Change that tranny fluid unless you know it was serviced recently. I dump the pan every year in the Yukon.

yah im changin the oil and tranny fluid...

and prolly brake fluid sometime in the next year too

Very nice find, looks to be in great shape inside and out. Bet you can't wait to work a little wax magic on it!

good luck with the truck shes in nice shape..

thanks!

I'm a ford guy but very nice truck! good luck with her Iceman *throws some change in* lol

LOL. im SO GLAD to be rid of that ford and back to a real vehicle, LOL.

the intake gaskets will only be about 300 bucks total. I got a guy i know to do it. He did the intake gaskets on my 2000 Grand Am GT b/c of that DEX-Cool CRAP. 350 bucks for parts and labor!!! still runs fine today with its current owner!! that was a year ago he did them. And the small blocks are a lot easier to do. so as long as parts are around the same cost, the total price should be about the same!

Nice truck ! Don't let the gob'ment know you got it. Luckily a few escaped the "MY cash for clunkers" program LOL. Oh, and tell us how you really feel about Dex-cool..lol

you sure?? lol

haha, yah luckily this escaped, otherwise id prolly be stuck with some hybrid truck that runs on water and cant even pull my all aluminum utility trailer.

Those trucks hold their value very well. Congrats on the purchase.

Nice find. First off the 262/305/350 engines are pretty reliable with a ton of options for perfomance parts. I would definitely recommend flushing the Dexcool and replacing it. (I did the same on a '01 Sonoma) and flushing the tranny. The only other problem area is that the brake lines are rather thin can become corroded/leak. Other than that, these are very reliable trucks.

Beautiful truck ICEMAN 305 5.7, 4.3, 3.8, Are all bullet proof engines they all have there little quirks but they take a licking and keep on ticking. 153k on my 4.3 and shes still a pup, Just make sure you get the dexcool out asap and flush it good if you think you flushed it good do it again lol dont want jello in your radiator if you mix dex and reg green. Im looking for the same truck currently but with the 5.7 vortec 4x4. But most of the ones im finding are old work trucks in pretty bad shape with 300k+ miles on them but hey there still running. Congrats

thanks guys. yah im going to get the intake gaskets replaced along with the flush, instead of having to pay for a flush twice, lol. I will hopefully do that before winter hits... just so there isnt a breakdown in the middle of winter, which would be my luck, lol.

and yes i need to change the tranny fluid.
