Let me preface by saying my real name is Will

Anyway I was thinking of naming my detailing biz "Whiplash Willys"

What do you think? Too close to the black fire slogan or ok?

If it's what you feel comfortable with i say go for it. Just because you incorporate part of your name from another company's slogan doesnt mean anything. Just be sure to check the domain and check your state business listings for availability.

I would never hear that name and think detailing. Also, bear in mind...that having a name involving the word detailing, or something detail related will bring up search engine results.

For example, my name...Northeast Detailing. Someone could type in detailing into Google in my area, and I'll pop up. Nobody is going to type in Whiplash, or Willy. Even if they do...it probably wouldn't be because they're seeking a detailer.

Also, something to think about...is the fact that both words start with W. Which means that if someone searches for a detailing business in their area...you'll probably be at the bottom of the list, if at all. Unless you pay for search engine optimization.

A name has more uses than being simply something you like, or care for. There's strategy behind choosing a name, or at least there can be. Today, with the internet pretty much being everybody's "go to" form of seeking out a business...a name is very important.

Sounds like a name of a porno. Lol

Honestly try not to add your name into your business. Thousands of people do that. People like originality and it might sound crazy but a good name does help atract customers.

I think there are better names out there. I would search for detail names online to get some ideas. Then you at least have a start and can expound from there.

All good points, thanks!:xyxthumbs:

I see where your coming from with that name, but its too "inside" for anyone outside our forums or "in the know" to really get it, click onto the links Mike posted and come back here with what you've come up with.

If you haven't already, or for anyone else reading this thread into the future thinking of a business name, check out these two articles...

Thanks Mike!

Very true, back to the drawing board for me

:iagree:

on both points.

I'd stay away from names and locations (what if you move..?..also, search engines will bring up hotels and eateries or recreation places when you put in a location)..and names (yours or anybody else's)...won't bring up what you do in any search engine.

What are you offering your customer..?..Willy (yourself)..whiplash (perhaps, but nobody else in the world but us here know what that means in this context).

I think with some good advice here, and some thought, you will come up with something for sure!

Thanks John. I am currently brainstorming new ideas...I will def post when I come up with something new

Waxing Willy
Willy's Wash and Wax
Willy's Wishy Washy Wash and Wax of Walla Walla, Washington ( you'll have to move)

Could always go with inspiration from Mike's article...

"Will the detailer" haha, just kidding

Willy's Wishy Washy Wash and Wax of Walla Walla, Washington ( you'll have to move)

HAHAHAHAH!!!! I shared this with some friends at the office, they are starting a fund so I can move to WA :dblthumb2:

IMO. I see alot of negative aspect in the name. It could come back to haunt you. !!!

You are looking for a name that is unique, states quality, excellence and tells your customer that you are the best. No one else can match you or the quality.

Everyone has given you their input, the final decision is going to be yours.

Thanks. I've def made the decision not to use the name in the original post.

Not many use yellow books too, so getting something like A1 Detailing is not a priority like it was 10 years ago.

I'd include detailing in the name for internet search purpose as stated above, even mobile if that is your business.

I like something that gets a client excited like:

HiDef Detailing (or HD Detailing)
Mirror Reflections Detailing
ShineTime Mobile Detailing
Professional Detailing Services LLC
OneStop Detail

Just to get the brainstorm going...

Thanks Trumbo, that will help get the cobwebs out, haha
