I recently acquired a LHR12e Duetto to add to my collection of polishers. I finally had a chance to give it a work out over the past two days.

I will get right to it: What a machine! It is extremely smooth, relatively quiet (compared to a few others) and has power to spare. It was very hard to bog down even on some curved panels. Did I say smooth? Holy smokes it is smooooooooooth! I LOVE this machine and if I had to own only one machine...this would be it!

It also has a super long power cord which is nice so I didn't have to break out the 100 ft extension cord. Very nice.

It is a quality machine. Feels excellent! Balance/weight/length/etc. Very PC like.

OK, ok, so I looooooove this polisher!

Good, no great, no excellent job Rupes!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ruuuuuuuuuuuuuuppeeeeeeeeees! My favorite polisher!

Here it is in action:

Lol, this is not exactly a review, it's more like an 'ode to the Duetto' ahahha

However, it's great to hear your enjoyable experience with this machine.

I can really feel the smoothness just by reading your excitement...

Have you done washer mod? Please, tell me no.

I like those PC style machines, but I also think they are not powerful enough, the body is too large in diameter, they vibrate a lot and makes a lot of noise. The on/off switch is not safe for fast turn off if you face an abrupt problem. I like them even this way!

I see the Duetto being a perfected version of the PCs, so it's should be absolutely great machine. I'm leaning towards entering the 'Rupes world' from bellow, I mean, I'm to get a Mini 75 for complementing my Flex 3401.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on that one,

Kind Regards.

Haha unique review you got there and nice garage set up too

^^^I have NOT done the washer mod. I do not think this machine needs it. The Duetto does not vibrate much at all. It is very, very smooth. It blew me away at how smooth it was!

I forgot to mention, that the on/off switch is a 'soft' start button: there is a short delay before the machine turns on and it takes a second to 'ramp up' to full speed.

LOL @ your comment about it not being a review and being an ode! ( I think it deserves it!)

Thanks Jamesboy! ( I do love my garage!)

See ya!

I ordered a Duetto during the Easter sale, so your review makes me even more anxious to get it!

The Duetto is a very fine machine. I used mine for the first time last week and agree that Mr. Sizzle is very accurate with his feedback :xyxthumbs:

btw, i love that stool. i have the same one and find it to be priceless !

Rupes yellow in the pictures. I like their pads. Tapered and they finish like nobody's bidniss!

I agree. Rupes pads take a licking and keep on ticking....

The blue cutting pad is freaking amazing with their compound. The really did a nice "System Approach" with their line.

I really like how they labeled their polish bottles to make them absolutely Bubba-Proof, that is,

Coarse
Medium
Fine
Ultra Fine

In fact, it's as though they read my chapter on compound and polish categories in my how-to book.

:dblthumb2:

^^^^That's a tough one. I have both...and like them both! Keep us posted on what you decide! (That damn Duetto is just sooooo smooth though!)

Really been contemplating buying a Rupes Duetto or a Flex 3401. Decisions decisions!!!
That's a Audi A3 2.0T vs Ford Mustang GT comparison.

Two entirely different machines that both serve a very useful purpose.

I have a Duetto right now, and it's a great machine for finishing and/or light to medium correction.

I used to own a Flex 3401, and it is a great machine for heavier correction.

Does the longer throw of the Rupes make polishing significantly faster?

^^^^I'd say in my opinion, no. I don't really see any 'speed/time' benefit to any of my Rupes polishers. Now, I'm not timing myself either, but I think a lot has to do with your technique. Not saying that the machine doesn't have an effect, but not that I noticed.

I only noticed a high quality, well built, super smooth operating piece of equipment!

Sorry I couldn't shed more light on your question, maybe others can.

You're saying a Rupes LHR21 will not correct significantly faster/better than a PCXP?

Hey Mark, as I said, in my opinion. I don't time myself while detailing so I can't really say. I do like the Rupes better though!
