I have had this planned for a little while...but some family friends asked me to do their 2001 Lexus RX 300.... I jumped on it and was very excited to do this.....I couldn't sleep the night before I was so excited...why? because if was my first time to do a car whose paint wasn't in the greatest condition (scuffs minor scratches etc)... I wanted to see how good I was getting. (can you blame me?) :D

process is as follows:
-started at 8:30
-cleaned out interior, vaccuumed,spot treated with Folex and Megs interior)
-treated leather with Lexol cleaner,conditioner and dressing
-sprayed down wheels with pressure washer
-degreaser on wheels and rub out tough spots
-sprayed off
-citrus degreaser on front and lower panels (car was wet)
-washed with Pinnacle Shampoo (two bucket method)
-cleaned wheels
-dried with Guzzler
-clayed whole car (used megs quick detail as lube)
-QUIZNO'S lunch break
-then used XMT 3 and orange LCC pad to get swirls off hood and many of the fine scratches and the many scuffs
-xmt 1 with white LCC pad
-XMT glaze ( applied by hand)
-Sovereign
-crystal mist to give extra "POP"
-wheel wells and tires with Black magic foam
-window's with stoner's aerosol
-one last look over and got anything i missed, and let the girlfriend look too. (she is living with the family)

ended at 7:30

and finally the pics of the aftermath of my work.... I don't mean to boast but I think this is the best I've ever done with silver... and the guy across the street asked me to do his cars :righton: I gave him my cell....so we'll see what comes of it. anyway here are the pics :awesome:

Man with the job you did you shoulldn't feel bad about boasting, you did a good job on that vehicle.

I like the way the tires look and the reflection on the silver color looks really good.

A job well done...oh and you'r fast too.
 
That was a great job!! BTW, how do you charge people? IS it by the hour and do you give an estimate beforehand? That's what I do..I charge 25/hr and am usually within 1/2 hour of the time I say.
 
RICHY- well I haven't really established an hourly rate or anything for that matter..... but I got 200 for it plus a 25 tip.... so 225.... I feel bad charging really good family friends a lot haha...

they also called me to thank me too...they were afraid to pull it out of the garage....they want me to do their truck too....and then continue to maintain the cars... :D
 
I used mother's Back to Black.... stuff works great and is easy wipe on wipe excess off..... I did the trim on my RX-8 and it really made the car look ten times better.... I wish I had a before pic. the trim was really dull....oh and the applicator pad was BLACK with all the junk and oxidation that was pulled off.

not too shabby for a 6 year old car huh>

Is back to back a dye? or just a restorer?
 
Well done the car looks great bet the owner was happy.

It's a restorer, it's a black liquid. The only bad thing i've heard about it is that when it gets wet it drips off.
 
that car looks excellent and you did a great job. For me, i knew i was getting better when i could get the same results in less time. The first time I did a detail was on a surburban that was MESSED UP! I started at 8 and didn't finish till like 5:30 and no lunch break. But that also included engine detail as well.

yes you really have to make sure that you wipe ALL the excess off. it works great if you do it right. haha:)

thanks P1et. my supplies were A LOT more organized that morning I promise... haha. I also had a shop vac in the front seat and my smaller Karcher pressure washer... (no way I could fit the gas powered one)
 
That's probably the nicest 01 Lexus I seen. My brother has almost an identical car I will plan on doing the same thing in a couple weeks. Nice work man, keep VC lookin good my brother!@
 
Car looks great! Sweet job! So sweet, that it brought the guy across the street to check out your work........likes bees to honey. Your great job got you more work.
 
FMINUS... Back to black is a restorer and is horrible IMO... it lasts a rainfall maybe 2 and it's all gone, but at the time of a detail it makes the trim look new... Forever black has worked well for me, lasting up to 6-8 weeks through numerous rainfalls/washes... Forever black is a dye however and should be used more carefully... Meg's hyperdressing has worked well recently as well... haha sorry I just hate Back to black

Guido... the detail and the process both look good... I think you did a great job on making the paint look very wet + the job seems "completely complete"... no wax leftovers, streaks, etc... good job

The only thing I can suggest is taking before shots of any correction you did.
I'm not doubting your abilities, but any old scratched up car, especially silver, will look that good in that kind of lighting, even after a wash, let alone souveran :D
