I live very close to the tip of the north fork of Long Island, NY. As you can imagine, boating/marinas are a big way of life here.

I can count about 13 here on the north fork, including our industrial shipyard which services ferries.

Anyway, I know all these guys as a marine mechanic for the last 30 years.

Three of the guys in the shipyard were burned Friday in a bilge fire. Must've been a gas fume/spark thing as far as I can tell.
I've known these guys my whole adult life, and I know that they know what they're doing.

Must've been a freak thing. Anyway, two of my boys are in the hospital with 2nd & 3rd degree burns.

Just need some positive waves their way....

Thanks, boys.

Sending some prayers and positive thoughts their way man. Life is so uncertain. Hang in there bud. Stay strong for them and their families!

I will think about them. I used to work in the oil industry and know very well the fire risk. I was never hurt, nor was a direct coworker but other company and contract guys were. My job was in change management, when we wanted to do any kind of work I took the work order to subject experts to talk about the change to eliminate the risk of injury. There are all kinds of people effected by this, the worst the burned workers, closely followed by their family who just lost income.

Hi Paul,

I'm extremely sorry for the unfortunate incidents that have happened. My thoughts and prayers to your boys and friends.

Damn man, sorry to hear about your friends. Will definitely keep them in my thoughts. Be safe out there!

Sorry to hear man. Scary world out there. Stay safe guys.

Yeah, you're right on with that Coop.

Met with my boy's wife today. Whole town has already set up a fund George thing. We're tight-knit here, as with all small towns. George will pull through. I'm sure of it.

Old curmudgeons don't give up!

I thank you guys. Seriously.

Amen! Prayers for sent them! One of the guys who installed the water makers on the last boat our company built, was electrocuted on the boat he was working on after ours. I saw him out after work & had a few beers with him and a few weeks later,he was gone. Makes you appreciate every day!

Wow- positive vibes and prayers sent.
So sorry to read this.

***Update***

Glad to report my friends in the shipyard are doing much better. Two are back at work, and one is home with his family recovering. He swears he'll be back next week, but his wife told me 2-3. And we all know who's opinion rules there. :)

Anyway, thanks to all of you guys/gals who thought of my boys.

Very appreciated!!!!!!!!!

You got it, Paul. Sorry to hear and my thoughts and prayers are with you guys. Hope they come out of it ok.
