NEED HELP 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 or 2013 Ford Shelby GT500

Both of these cars are really just for bragging rights and prestige. And I hold the Shelby higher on the WOW factor than the ZL1. And I've had 5 F-bodies and 2 Mustangs.

I need one of those, like immediately. I've seen a few in person and they are a car that looks the part of what it is. Can someone loan me about 120K?

As for your question, like others have said, it will really come down to you. Doesn't matter what we say. I'm like you as far as test drives, but that is the only real way to know.

Go get car and driver. The July issue has them compared. I would get the Shelby.
 
This is easy....

Go to the Ford dealership and take a test drive. The earlier the better so you can get fresh donuts and coffee. Have a friend take a test drive in the Camaro at the same time. Meet in an empty parking lot and have the two dealers persuade you through passionate debate. Queensbury rules of course. You'll at least have an entertaining morning.
 
Am I the one that prefers the Boss 302 to the Shelby? I'm a Mopar guy but I would take a 302 in a heartbeat. Laguna Seca edition please, but the first thing to happen would be to get the "lipstick" painted back to the body color. Other than that that car (and the sound) is just awesome.
 
A Camaro is a Chevy (read GM ) and a Mustang is a Mustang. Ever wonder why Shelby worked with Fords ?
 
The ZL1 and the GT500 are both amazing vehicles and you can't go wrong with either of them.

Both of these cars have too much power for me as a daily driver lol. I think a SRT8 Challenger would be perfect for me :)

ZL1. No question. HP alone doesn't make the car. There are a lot of things that make the ZL1 my choice.
 
The GT500 is a little bit quicker.
The ZL1 has better handling.
The GT500 has a tad bit better stopping power.
The ZL1 has a smoother gearbox.
The GT500 gets better gas mileage.
The ZL1 has more aggressive gearing.

They both have ups and downs. Both are great cars. Whichever one you get you most likely wont be disappointed.
 
Get a second hand Alpina B7 or even an M3... Seriously..

You could even get a Mercedes S63 for that kind of money... THAT is a true muscle car.
 
My bro-in-law as a 10 M3 Vert and I hands down would not trade it for my Shelby.

If you want to wipe almost anything on the street get a 13 Nissan GTR.

As mentioned before, from a completly un-biased point of view, if you want shock value and raw, straight-line performance, the Shelby is the better suit. If you want comparable straight-line power (let's face it, the average person, which is most of us, wouldn't know what to do with 580 HP, when are you ever going to use even that much power on the street?), but also Magnetic suspension, better braking, and better handling (better all-around ride), then look no further than the ZL1.

There have been a ton of reviews already and just about everyone of them that I have seen, say the same thing about the two. I talked to a friend recently who got the opportunity to drive both and he told me that there is a distinct difference between the two. In fact, you almost can't compare them because they are different enough from eachother, that they only share a few commonalities.

Bottom-line, brands aside, it just depends on what you want out of the car. They both have their niches and specialties, and they do them very well, but they don't do eachother's specialties very well at all.
