2001 Porsche Boxster, Orient Red. Paint is in bad shape. I tried HD Speed with a Lake Country CCS Orange pad. Got about 50% better. What should I step up to? Want to tackle this tomorrow so I am limited to products I can purchase locally, included 3D which is local to me. Products I already have that I can try:

1. Wolfgang Total Swirl Remover
2. Meguires Ultimate Compound
3. Buy HD Cut today

I would do a test spot with the Wolfgang and see where that gets you. Start with a white pad and then try with orange if you're still not getting the results you want. You might need a compound like UC or HD Cut, but just be aware that after using those products you may end up with compounding haze that needs to be polished out with a lighter polish to get a nice shine from the paint.

Testing different combinations of pads and products will help you lock in the best combination.

HD Speed with a MF cutting pad is amazing

Meguiars m100 is my go to compound it's not very expensive and cuts fast and leave a good finish only a light polish to finish off.

I'd give HD Cut + a shot, FYI:

HD Adapt Discontinued
Posted by David Fermani on August 1, 2016 in Detailing Made Simple, News & Events | 0 comments

After very long consideration, 3D has decided to discontinue HD Adapt in an effort to “keep detailing simple” by narrowing down our polishing compound offerings. Unlike many other detail product companies, it has been our mission to not complicate our customers with repetitive polishes and compounds. That is why we have worked tirelessly to make our compounds and polishes not only produce quick, heavy cutting power, but also produce a resulting finish that is second to none. When HD Cut+ was reintroduced a short time ago, it inherited many of the attributes that were pioneered with the HD Adapt technology (Adaptive Abrasive Technology AAT). After much testing, we have been able to mimic both the cutting & finishing abilities that were accomplished with Adapt with the new HD Cut+ as well as the 3D AAT Finishing Polish in most paint correction & polishing comparison scenarios. As with all polishing compounds, pad selection as well as technique is the key to achieve optimal results, but final outcome should remain the same, if not better. Thank you for your continued support and understanding.

•Meguiar's UC:
-it's readily available OTC
-I use it = it's Bubba proof

It also has a long working time, and even though it doesn't cut quit as hard as 105 it doesn't dust as bad either and is far easier to remove. Great stuff !

M100 seems to cut better for me than M105.

Even Larry Kosilla switches from M105 to M100 when he needs more cut.

That being said, your technique with M105 is probably better than mine!

HD Cut would "keep it in the family".

You could also follow HD Cut with HD Speed, and be done with it, as Speed both refines, and protects.

If it were me though I'd try whatever I had on hand. I would imagine Ultimate Compound will have the most cut based on product description. Wolfgang TSR is supposed to be like Menzerna SI1500 if I remember correctly, which is also a good product.

I don't mention Menzerna nearly enough, but I really love their offerings. If you ever wanted to set yourself up with an extremely versatile set of products that finish out on a wide variety of paints, I'd get Menzerna HC400 compound, MC2500 Medium Polish, and SF3500 Finishing Polish, and a set of Lake Country Hydrotech pads.

I brought those polishes out today, and forgot how efficient they were. I bet the MC2500 and a polishing pad would be all you needed to get that paint beautiful again. MC2500 is one of my favorites for "one step" polishing because it as a lot of reach from cutting to polishing. I almost always use it on the Tangerine polishing pad.

Others have mentioned the pad. I'm not an HD Speed user, but my understanding is that the closed cell foam pads don't work quite as well with all in ones. I switched to LC Thin Pros and saw a huge improvement.

I use speed in a lot of different situations, arm speed and amount of passes can make a huge difference, I think machine speeds 3.5 and 4 are the sweet spot
