Hey guys, need some opinions. So im thinking of buying a new car, well used, but buying something. The car Ive got my eye on is a 2007 Infiniti G35, with the sports package on it, leather, sunroof, and low low miles, 20,624 to be exact and its clean, almost perfect condition, clean history, basically its in very good shape, very impressive. Its listed for $25,900, which is a pretty fair price after looking around at blue book values and nadas, still gonna try to talk them down, but overall not a bad car, except for the this one thing, which is really aggravating since the car is in pretty perfect shape.... the problem is i was a smokers car, so while there is a noticeable smell of smoke in the car, its not as bad as Ive seen before.

So two questions:

Whats the opinion on the car itself, anybody got one, do they hold up well, etc.....?

And does anybody think ill be able to get the cigarette smell out overtime, or will it always be there, would you take the chance on it?

Here is a pic of it at the dealer. I love those rims and the color, wouldn't buy it if it didn't have those rims.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Sharp car, would an ozone generator clean the smoke smell?

G35x? Sweet ride for sure. As long as its a stick. Never driven personally but I sure love the look of them. I think over a few months time the smoke smell will go away. Just give it a good cleaning inside and you should be good to go.

A G35 is a great ride, I agree with the above post a good cleaning and freshened up inside you should be good to go

You can use the fact that it was smoked in to get a good deal. With the price of groceries and gas I had to trade in my F150 and the salesman told me that smoked in cars take a big hit because of the smell. The bright side is I picked up a 2011 Fusion completely loaded for a good deal.

Consumer Reports gives the car very high marks. Every review I have read has been very positive. I think it would be a great choice. Too bad a smoker owned it, hopefully you can get rid of the stench.

How is the insurance on it?

Only $37 dollars more a month, not bad for a luxury sports car.

It will be a blast to drive, you will look forward to driving. Like others have mentioned, use the "smokers car" to your advantage.

Alot of people would never consider buying it because of that, but you will be able to take car of it. Insurance doesnt take much of a leap, which is great. There realiable and with a few mods pretty quick.

I don't have one yet but will get one, but I have seen in videos that a Vapor Steam Cleaner can be blasted through the vents where alot of that smell is probably coming from. That may eliminate the smell for good after detailing the inside as well.

If it wasn't heavily smoked in...then you should be able to clean it up. I would use a steam cleaner and really steam those vent tunnels out.

Do a thorough cleaning of the interior. You're gonna have to apc EVERYTHING. Mist some apc on the headliner, and wipe with a microfiber too. Let a good deodorizer marinate into the carpet. When you come around with the extractor...I would get the carpet wet real quick and reactivate that deodorizer, scrub real good before you suck it up. That should do it.

After all that, I would highly doubt that smell lingers for long, if at all. Nice car though. Use the fact that you're gonna have to do all that to haggle the price down! They'll offer to do it, but screw that. haha. :dblthumb2:

Thanks alot for all the comments, man now I really want this thing, lol, thats what I figured about the smell inside, a good cleaning should take care of it. Yea definately gonna use it as price negotiation. Like I said its priced now at 25,995, I think I could get them to knock at least a grand off.

I figured being an Infinity it would hold up pretty well, but hows infinit paint, never really dealt with it, hard or soft, does it chip easy.

That is one good looking G35 :xyxthumbs:

BTW,UISG (Ultima Interior Shampoo Gel) works well for cleaning and deodorizing headliners without staining :props:

Also, does anybody see a problem with buying an 07, making the car four years old, i was wandering if it stills looks good since the new g37s came out.

Looks great man - the newest car I have is an '01.... think you'll be alright with that style!

love the infiniti I have a new M and they are fun to drive and have good reliability and resale value, as for the smell a good cleaning and deodorizing should take care of it, get the dealer to do some as incentive

I've only detailed a few of them. I've never had to do correction at all. If I remember correctly...I think it had a pretty tough clear. But I only did a wash, clay, one step buff, and a hand wax. Never had to get into compound and remove scratches, cause the customers were too cheap!! lol, kidding...but not really. They wanted the Silver Package

Do a little research into when they discontinued the self healing paint option. If that has the self healing paint option that will be a headache for the service life of the paint, especially for a detailer who will be polishing it from time to time. Other that that is looks like a great car. If the good cleaning doesn't work on the odor pull the cabin filters, start the car, turn on the A/C and give it a shock treatment with an ozone generator. That will get rid of the remaining smell. Ozone has a half life of 30 minutes before it turns back into oxygen so wait at least an hour before going back in the car after you unplug the ozone generator.
